Do we know yet if SA2000 helmets are going to be allowed next year? Is the SA2010 standard out yet?

Cheers,
Pete

I leant a snell 2000 helmet to somebody @ oulton recntly & they were told it was too old to use but the scruts, but from the msa web site msa scruit news april 2010:

MSA Clarifies Crash Helmet Standards
The following statement was issued as a press release on 29th March 2010:
The Motor Sports Association (MSA) has issued regulation clarifications regarding two current crash helmet standards. The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has announced that it will cease to recognise the BS 6658-85 Type A/FR helmet standard after December 31, 2013. However, at its most recent meeting earlier this month, the Motor Sports Council agreed to extend the life of this standard until at least December 31, 2015. This is to offer an additional two years of use for those buying the current version.
The MSA would also like to draw attention to the Snell SA2000 helmet standard. Regulation K 10.3.1 of the 2010 Competitors‟ and Officials‟ Yearbook states that this standard „May be withdrawn with effect from 01/01/11‟. However, the MSA is pleased to confirm that this standard will now be valid until December 31, 2014.

print this off & keep it in your helmet bag (that doesn't sound right I know)

Thank's guy's.

I'll not shell out for a new one yet (it's 4 years old & done about 12 races, so still pretty immaculate), & keep a copy of the blue book to hand at scrutineering.

Cheers,
Pete

You can even Polish your Helmet in Europe for a few more years, FIA technical list 25 says that SA2000 not valid after 31/12/2014 and BS6658/85 A/FR after 31/12/2013.
Good news if you dont want your beloved helmet to gather dust.

Resurrecting this thread with a similar (but current) question:

My Arai crash helmet is certified to British Standard BS6658-85 Type A. The blue book quotes British Standard BS6658-85 Type A/FR.

Can anyone tell me if, without the "/FR", my helmet is legal for this season?

Thanks

Ah, I thought so but I was hoping to be proved wrong! Thank you.....!

(And obviously, not having raced for more than 2 years it's about time I got back in the car eh)?!
