Hoped to have been there to have a good race in the Intermarque race against Jackie Cochrane and a few others I race against in the Heritage, but my Sunbeam Lotus (minus rear wing) was not welcome :'(
To be honest I don't get it???
I would hardly runaway with it?
In 12 races with the Heritage I have only ever won 1 race, and had one pole (in the wet) and some of the same cars race in the Intermarque?
Doesn't fit in? I thought the 1980 Lombard winning car that was driven by the late, great, Henri Toivonen had earned its right as an Icon, and would be a welcome addition to any period grid?
Can't be age, as Ferrari 355 Challenge cars are init?
Can't be overmodified as original block, head, suspension layout and still on carbs, unlike some others?
Surely can't be my driving record, never had a single point, fine or endorsement on my race license. In the last 80 races I have not sustained a bit of panel damage whilst always racing hard.
Love it if anyone could shed some light on why a grid with spaces on turns me away?
Maybe an AMOC member could gleen some light off the very polite Competition Secretary, John?

Shame, because your car is well turned out, and well driven & I for one enjoy watching it.

And it's not as if AMOC don't need the numbers/entrants - their numbers are poor and I guess the club is losing a fortune running their own days with limited entrants.
I've watched AMOC twice this year, and have been bored stiff both times watching the same drivers/cars but in different races - and the sooner the GT4 Challenge moves to BGT or the British Endurance Champ (Britcar), the better.

Are you entered for Heritage at Brands in a couple of weeks?

Joss,

way back when, the Intermarque was for certtain marques of car: Aston, Ferrari, AC, Jaguar, Porsche. So trying to enter any other car was pointless.

In rencet times these rules ahve been relaxed- the caparo had ts only race entry in the Intermarque a few years ago at Donington, but it might be because your car started out as more Talbot then lotus, and they dont want any old car on the grid dont'cha know

(seriosuly, otherweise people will be arriving in ex-touring cars and those with midly modified oldc ars like the 70s Astons wont stand a chance. And it it the AMOC race afterall...)

I bet if you had a pre-war Talbot they'd let you in with open arms!!

I must say that I found Jon at AMOC a very helpful and enthusiastic chap.

Had my fellow mad-vehicle owners been more keen and turned up more often, Super GT could still be alive, and I'd be a much happier person myself.

Still, I've always got the happy band that is Classic Thunder for 2011.

Perhaps you need a V8 powered Talbot Solara.... OK best not go there....

I agree John is a very pleasant chap, he did say I was welcome if they run any more Super GT races. My refusal in the Inermarque was obviously pre-deceided and was not about to argue with the very polite messenger. I am just dissapointed as fancied a run at Donington with cars that I have been beaten by, and also beaten, so was hoping for a good race.

I heard a small rumor that cscc my be doing something to replace the amoc super gt in the not too distant future.

I think if everyone with suitable cars were to send an email to saying they would be interested it may help things along a bit. I'm keen for it, the car's the car's a different story at the moment

More gutted now I have seen the results and who raced in a very good 31 car grid :'( I have had some great fantastic, close, clean races with Jackie Cochrane (1st), John Wilson(2nd) and Robin North (3rd) in the Heritage, exchanging places many times with them, sometimes in a lap :')
Also saw another 5 other cars/drivers I will probably be racing against again in the Heritage in two weeks at Brands. Will have to try and get some of them to try and sway the commitee, as would love to have some races with the AMOC with good, quick, clean racers at the front of the Intermarque next season :')
Would have loved a run-out with Sunbeam Challenge, being a Sunbeam after all, maybe I should have tried to enter that, I would have tried my best to keep good old Jackie Honest in his 'Rocket Ship' . Young Gun, Irish Star, Jonathan Fildes, who shared the car with Jackie at the BTCC Snetterton meeting last year said that 'I's the scariest car I have ever driven'..lol That was after putting in a 1.12.2 lap..Platos pole in the BTCC was 1.12.5!!..lol, I did a best ever 1.14.7 and was left scartching my head how to ever catch the flying Tiger??

I only made it up for a couple of hours in the afternoon, but there was some good racing.
Shame it wasn't held on the Sunday though as we had bright sunshine rather than the grey overcast skies that Sat provided frown
