As of this year i've needed a new helmet since the Fireproof regs have come into play! I've been borrowing my father's so far this season as i just can't find anything suitable! I had my hart set on a Stilo SP2 Trophy, then they stopped doing it at the start of the year! frown

I like the idea of it being essentially a full-face with an open front/peak & covered chin, yet has the ability to be fitted with a visor if needs be in the future.

The Stilo's also have the added bonus of coming pre-fitted with Intercoms throughout most of the range, a big bonus as i'll no-doubt be looking into getting back into stage-rallying in the future.

Now, before anyone points out, i know they are now doing an 'SP2 Rally' but these are in limited sizing it seems, and only fitted with the much more expensive 'WRC' electronics, which i'm not keen on, given the intercom sets and matching electronics are way more expensive than the 'Trophy' jobbies that the old SP2 Trophy had. (I have asked!)

I've been looking for quite some time, and i warn you i'm a bit of a picky bar-steward, as it has to meet all these criteria, and still be fairly good looking! hehe

I've exhausted myself hunting for something suitable, so basically i'm asking if anyone knows of anything else that fits the criteria, isn't silly-expensive and will hopefully be futureproof for a few years?

So to recap;

Basically full-face/chin protection
Meets current reg. requirements and future-proof!
Good looking rather than cheap & nasty
Either comes with or able to have visor/headset/intercom fitted ideally

Although tbh i'm open to any decent recommendations not necessarily meeting all of those!

Hope that's not too much to ask & TIA!

In my opinion, it always comes down to fit. Every helmet that I've tried on seems to fit differently and both times (first helmet was bought on a budget of about £300, and the second about £600) it's been obvious which fits best. So my advice is to get yourself down to a motorsport store that sell helmets (GPR for instance) and ask to try on a few different ones within a price range that you're happy with.

Dead right, unfortunatly for my wallet I have an Arai shaped head. They were much better finished than most other helmets when I was looking for one at GPR and come with a 5yr warranty.

Arai are certainly among the best and the GP-5W will accept a peak so may suit your needs. Alternatively, the Bell R5 Pro Rally also has a peak and a built in intercom system.

yes Me too. I've got an Arai GP5k now, and it's fantastic. It's also easy to grab a spare visor in an emergency should you need one because it's such a common helmet. My first helmet was actually a Shoei, which fitted ok and was heavier - you get what you pay for though. As I said though, try them all on in your budget, and even on a cheap budget there should be one that fits - just don't expect a fit or weight as good as a more expensive helmet.
