Question on Simpson helmets (for racing)

I'm getting mixed information from many sources, so I thought I'd try here, to see if there are a few who already race and use a Simpson helmet.

The question I am having trouble with a clear answer on is;

Are any of the Simpson helmet model types FIA approved?


Anyone know for definite?

FIA/MSA approval is covered by either FIA8860-2004,Snell SA2000, Snell SA2005 SFI Foundation 31.1A & 31.2A or BS6658-85 A/FR.(not BS6658-85 A)
think the Simpson stuff is Snell labelled, just make sure it is not K98 or K2005, both of these are only approved for karting

SA2000 lifespan has just been extended till 2014

they are fia approved, however i think people saying they may have come from back when the HANS device first came in, they wernt designed to be fitted with HANS however many people still just drilled holes and put the posts in, causeing allot of confusion. i dont know the current situation on simpson and hans as i have a sparco shaped head

if they have HANS posts they should also have a FIA sticker on the outside

I just need to find somewhere to try some on - also like one or 2 of the Bell range, so need to locate a stockist to try them on too (easier said than done!)

dont pick a helmet on what design you like, pick what fits best

I wanted a new helmet a couple of yrs ago & wanted a decent one with hans posts............
came away from the autosport show with a non hans posts simpson bandit cos it fit my head so much better than others, but was told I couldnt get get hans posts fitted
