I have a 100% genuine mk 1 escort twin cam for sale and wandered weather an f.i.a certificate would increase its value.What is the procedure of f.i.a certification and its requiremets.I have written proof of cars identification apart from its obvious original specification??

I think you'll need to apply for a set of FIA papers such that you can compare the build spec of your car against these. Then you'll need to pay for an inspection by an approved person to certify that said car meets the requirements of the FIA papers. It isnt cheap for the papers or inspection nor as simple as it sounds but can add value as you say. Does the car already have a cage etc or previous /period race history?

Unless it's an original competition Mk1 TC, with factual documented history, the answer is nope.

Unless it's an original competition Mk1 TC, with factual documented history, the answer is nope.

Are you sure it needs period race history to get the papers? plenty of people build and race for example FIA MGB's and E types that dont have period history. I can understand the lack of period race history precluding you from an entry at say goodwood revival or classic le mans etc but I didnt think it meant you couldnt get a set of FIA papers and build a car from scratch to them.

As a matter of interest, my dad had one of the first 50 pre production twin cams. He used to do the National Autocross Champuionship in it and mum used to take me to school in it. It was radical for the day, had black squares on the dooor for the numbers...

period race history wont preclude you from buliding a car and getting an enty to FIA historic events. i think the comment was regarding the value of the car and not about actually getting certificates. there are so many cars around with HTPs that are eligable for FIA events, the eligibility is only of value to a historic racer and to be honest, there are a good few cars around that have all the dubious yet legal "period tweaks" completed to make them competitive in historic racing that a freshly approved car wont be high on their list...
