I am hoping to enter the sprint at Goodwood next week and have checked my car against the regs etc and all is compliant, except I cannot reach the ignition key without taking the harness off or loosening them completely - will this mean I will fail scrutineering

Technically yes. But in the 10 years I've been sprinting I've never seen this requirement being put to the test.

Thanks for the reply, I may risk entering then but just done a sound test and it comes out at 105.8db and with Goodwood being very hot on sound unless I can bring it down then they won't let me run anyway

There are a few things wrong on my car. But as I am never in the car when its scrutineer-ed, they have never been picked up. However if the ignition switch is clearly to far away, it may be picked up.

What car is it?

It is a kit car (MNR Vortx+) the ignition is hidden below the scuttle behind the steering wheel

Only picture I can find showing the steering wheel:

The switch has to be labelled up & easy to use for the marshals. You may get through, but I wouldnt risk it.

It should be easy for you to wire a "kill" switch & leave the ignition switch where it is.

I don't mean to be a killjoy, but how do you think you'd feel if you ended upside down in the gravel?
How do you think the marshals would feel, when they run to help you but aren't able to kill the engine.

For the cost of fitting a kill switch please just do it.

BTW I really hope you never need to use it!

I agree with you completely and that was the reason for the original post, I do already have a kill switch installed but that is under the bonnet (car is also used on the and I didn't want someone taking it out when sat at traffic lights etc)

I have decided not to enter the sprint and will have to sort it out, I was only entering as I happened to have a free weekend and thought it would be a good day out

Get some T handle cables pulls and some correct stickers and your sorted.

Assuming it is an FIA switch of course...

Good idea, I hadn't even thought of that - too late to enter the sprint now (closing date today) but at least I can get on with fitting pull cords (any idea where I can get them)

Rally Design will probably be the cheapest.

Edit: Some shocking iPhone typing...

Rally design are usually good on pric. Also its worth getting the teflon lined pull cables for extinguishers and cut off switch as these hardly ever seize and break when pulled.
