SEAT Ibiza - would it make a good hillclimb/sprint car?
Discussion
Apologies, I cannot find specs, but car ran in Class 3B/Modified Production Cars over 1400cc and up to 2000cc.
63.01 second run and 3rd in class (class made up of Impreza Sport, Alfa Romeo Sprint, 205 GTi 16v, Saxo VTR, Escort Mk1, 205 GTi (1st in class), Tigra, 205 GTi (2nd in class)).

it would be running in class A3 which down here in the SW roughly means standard production cars 1800cc to 2600cc, was thinking along the lines of the 1.8T as the tuning possibilities even in class A3 seem tempting - if I'm right over 200Bhp is readily achievable which in a light(ish) car should equate to stonking performance? Have also considered a MkIV Golf Gti for the same reason but they might be too heavy?
This may be something limited to lesser models, but both my brother and mum have run Ibizas the same shape as the Cupra pictured above. Both seemed to suffer horrendous bump-steer. If this is consistant throughout the range and is not easy to sort it would be enough to put me off.
I ran a later (56) FR TDi for a while and that didn't seem to suffer the same problems but did eat front wheel bearings.

anybody got any experience/knowledge they can share? My investigation so far points to the car not handling well enough?
This one ran at Loton Park in 2007, and was very competitive:I will try and find specs etc.

I haven't competed in 2010 (sold the Impreza in November 2010) and not replaced it (yet).
Hopefully, I will be back on black stuff in 2011.
All good thanks Richard.
I too havent played this year after bending the car badly at Prescott in September. Decided to take a season off for ground up rebuild, new engine, bodywork etc, and as wifes due our 2nd child in 3 weeks, but hope to be out next year as im a poor spectator!
Im often at Loton as i only live down the road, usually seen hanging onto my 18month old petrolhead who loves clambering into anything left un attended in the paddock.
so whats the paln for next steed? Another scooby or Evo?

Plan for 2011 is to find a clean Evo 5 or 6 and stay in Roadgoing Over 2000cc class.
Best of luck with new arrival!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
