It's never been open to spectators, but I guess you could marshall?

I know it hasn't.

I'm just wondering why?

I don't know why, possibly MSA licence issues or possibly the land owners may prefer it not to be, which I could understand. I'm not sure I would want loads of unknown 'public' wandering around my garden either smile

True.

Looks like I'll be doing Wiscombe for the first time, then.

agreed, or it could always be an insurance stipulation?

I'm guessing, but having been to one event there as a "sort of" spectator in the first year it was in use the most obvious reason is that the entrance to the venue is at the top of the hill and the hill is the only route in or out of the venue.

Spectators would have to get in before practice and stay the whole day, unless you know the right person and can get tagged on the end of a return batch to get in. I recall there was also the issue of a distinct lack of space, at the time I visited the paddock was big enough for about 30 cars, although I understand changes have been made to address this. Further, access to the hill for viewing beyond the start line was very limited aside from marshall posts, so with the layout that they were operating having the general public in would be a logistical nightmare.

If you go to Wiscombe park for the five clubs meeting at the start of September I'll be doing course control and probably holding the telephone upside-down.

It is an MSA track licence stipulation.
Track is great just don't back it into the bales like I did at the last one.
Food is the best there is.

Missed the bit about the Paddock.
Paddock space for around 80 cars plus 40 bikes
I will be there.

Give me a few years - I'm only 18! I follow the BHC around the country, Wiscombe is a 400 mile round trip, can't wait smile

I will never forget the look on your face when you couldn't work out why no one was talking to you on your upside down phone!! It was a good day for laughs !!
