Am I the only person who doesn't really see the whole point of this Time Attack thing?? Just seems like sprinting, with a subtly different name... Get out racing, far more fun (and other cars around)!
I see it in the same way as the current Qualifying format for Formula 1 which seems to be very popular...And I don't have to bend my p&j bumping wheels with another racer who has a bigger budget than me to rebuild his car after each race, so is going to be that bit more brave(wreckless) than I am willing to be.I could go buy a shopping trolley and go tin top racing very cheaply, but once you've done a few circuits with 450bhp/ton they really don't do it for me.
I've lapped circuits with a bit more power than that
But in all seriousness, most club racing is extremely well-behaved (with the odd exception like Stock Hatch where some seem to think they are in the BTCC!). I've never had a scratch in six-ish years (that wasn't self-inflicted), and I've had a lot of extremely close tussles. My point about Time Attack is that it is just the same as sprinting or hillclimbing? Fair enough if that is your thing, but what I enjoy about racing is the cut-and-thrust between different drivers in different cars - I'm not really sure what this Time Attack thing brings to the party, apart from a lot of slightly chavvy Jap 'Max Power'-style motors...

You'll find all the help you want there.
If you're around this weekend near Brands pop down and talk to the drivers, they're a really friendly bunch, and it'll get you used to the sort of crowds that most series can only dream of.

I agree, nothing wrong with it probably still good fun, but is not like like enjoying a nice burger having not tried a steak ??Several time attck chaps did the lma last year & said they loved it
Ive driven all sorts of machinery & have had as much fun in old XR2 bumper to bumper with several cars for 20 mins as I have had racing mcuh more expensive machinery, it's all realitive to who your racing with (for me)& id choose a another car over racing a stopwatch any day !
but thats just my opinion
Grow some Balls and Race. Anyone can drive a Big power TVR on the road or trackday.
Time Attack = Pointless.
Racing is what it ia all about Fighting for position on a track - Time attack is barely better than this dicking out on Track day.

This is the car/driver that won last years Pro Class, all I can say is that you must go to some really goood track days.
70 entries for this Sunday at Brands.
Crowd last year 6500, this year advance ticket sales were up 100% on last years advance sales.

I meant the spectators - I am fully away of some of the better cars.
There is Proper overtaking then.
I did note that Time Attack got MSA sactioned last year.
They are amazing cars. I was even up for a run in someone on here's car (daft TVR (750+bhp)), but it never happened - just for a giggle

Ah yes...some of the spectators can be a bit...well...you know....
What is good though is the amount of families that come through the gate, which can only be good for motorsport in general I think.
If you're there on Saturday I'll hopefully get to see you racing as I'm there in the afternoon.
Weather is looking good for both days.

This is at Brands? This Sunday?
I might be there have tickets for the AMOC on Saturday (this was always going to be one of the ones I was going to miss this year - cost restraints - building a full spec Griffith TVR (the proper one from 1965) take shed loads). Last race there was fun in April.
Thoroughbreds will be Great (well better if I had entered!!! ).

I know its probably a backmarker but one each side of the 911 at about 2:50 is brilliant...

Try to find the one from the Corvette Grandsport from last year (basically a dragster trying to race - 200bhp up on the other top cars but almost too much power - they are trying to have it excluded as more of a prototype class really - but a total Giggle!
These think are <950 kg with 430+bhp very low grip ZZ (wide but low grip historics) tyres and Rubbish brakes.
Spa6 is the NUTS - Oh to be able to do it in a big power car (or any car!).
Slipping up the inside of John Wilsons MGBV8 @ Lotus Classic F1 meeting @ Snetterton to retake the lead for the 5th time after being passed on the straights 4 times ;')
