Transponder Test

I am about to fit a secondhand transponder to my car. It is a TranX 260DP, hard wired.
Is there anyway I can check that it's working ok before my first race on Saturday?

I may be wrong but if you wire it up, 12v etc, and look at the IR LED through a CCD....phone camera, digital camera on movie mode, it should emit a light, or flashing light. Test the camera before by filming a remote control LED for a few seconds, should do the same thing

Having looked long and hard at my transponder while trying to work out if it worked or not, I dont recall seeing an IR LED. The lap timers do, and should show up ok on the camera as mentioned. I have been advised that the timers will manually time your quallifying and let you know that it isnt working, and then rent you one for the race.

I just fitted the same transponder and when 'switched on' there is a small green LED on the lower corner.
I'm no expert but I guess that if the green LED is not lit then it's not working!
