I was going to go along but decided to watch the GP instead. I ended up going outside and watching the grass grow. After that I painted the wall just so as I could watch the paint dry. Far more action and interest than the GP. God I wish I`d gone to north weald.

Yes, I was the younger (if not necessarily the thinner) of the two people driving the tatty-looking MR2. I was 709 rather than 09. I have some vids, uploading to Youtube now but iMovie claims it will be another hour or so.

I had the results e-mailed to me this afternoon, but I'm not sure if there's any simple way to share them as they're in Excel. Maybe the B19 site has them?

Although I think Jenson Button was in two places at once, because the bloke driving the M3 looked spookily similar to him.

Yep. Blue TVR Chimaera #69.

It was bl**dy cold, but the sun shone, the bacon rolls were brilliant, the surface at North Weald was as buggered as always, the cones for the "roundabout" and the top end of the "wiggle-woggle" had moved some yards from last year and a grand time was had by all!

Can't wait for the next one.

I did my first sprints last year in a BMW Z4M Coupe which is my road car. We bought the MR2 as something that was cheap so we wouldn't mind if we clouted some cones with it.

However, it's clear that to do well you need to be on List 1B tyres. A set of List 1Bs would run to about £900, and we only paid £950 for the car! On the other hand £900 spent on brakes or suspension won't give anywhere near the advantage of a set of List 1Bs. And we'd also need a spare set of rims with ordinary tyres for wet days. I believe the List 1B tyres are being effectively outlawed by the EU by the end of the year, so it's an investment that will only last until the end of the season.

The top 3 cars in the production class were all on list 1b tyres. I did price a set up, but am not willing to pay 800 pounds on tyres when im running to a tight budget and the eu are outlawing these types of tyres. I must admit i was surprised by the amount of modifications on some of the cars in the production class.

I was there, red 205 in class B8.

The majority in the road classes, were actually on List 1A Road tyres i'm afraid. Lee in the blue cup that came second certainly was, and Jason in the ITR that won the class was only on Hankook RS2's, and was also his first Sprint.

Good day overall, well run and enjoyable event. smile

The MX5 was on List 1Bs, and I was pretty sure the Integra was as well (well they looked like List 1Bs to me). As was the M3 in the next class up, and at least one of the GT3s (red one). The S2000 guy (I forget his name) was on 1As though. Maybe the class leaders just have talent smile

Still, somehow I need to find 8 seconds...

It was in EVO that I read it. Apparently new EU regs on wet weather grip, designed to outlaw those cheap Chinese tyres, will effectively spell the end of the road-legal trackday tyre. Presumably it won't be possible to buy them any more, but I guess if you have some you'll be OK to use them on the road. Whether the MSA then removes list 1B in its entirety I don't know...

I was there in the S2000, first sprint at North weald and first in RWD.

Really enjoyed the day, Looking at my video's I've still got a fair bit to learn in order to get RWD going quickly!, was a bit nervous of the S2000 reputation.

I'm thinking about buying a second set of wheels and some RS2's or R888, Would have preferred it if the production cars were left of list 1A tyres to save the expense, but the rules and the rules so it looks like I'll have to dust of the credit card and spend some money.

Thanks. That makes a depressing read.

(I note that I posted in the thread, too. I must have completely forgotten about it!)

Those are excellent, thanks. Although it looks a lot more exotic on video than it was in reality. smile
