I've noticed that according to the BRSCC site that the Boxster build kits are 'now available at a cost of £3,297.90 plus VAT'. A substantial price increase as it seems that, race seat, harness and fire extinguisher system are no longer included.

ETA

I dont understand whats happening with this series, just before the start of the season the series website (rennsportracing.com) goes blank and now its only just begun and the kit contents and prices are changing. Just doesn't seem very well organised.

Thanks for the reply Nick.

If I remember correctly from the old site, the kit included the roll cage, dampers, seat, harness, wheels and the fire extinguisher. You have swapped the seat, harness and extinguisher for 1 set of tyres and increased the price by £400. The tyres are consumables so drivers will be buying more of those during the season after the car is finished, where as the others items are one off purchases when building the car so it makes more sense to me to inlcude those in a 'build kit'.

It's a new series and your trying to attract as many new drivers as possible but you've now decided to offer them less for more money? Feels like your shooting yourselves in the foot a bit.

It seems odd having the champioship run by a commitee rather than a single coordinator. I can't think of any other championships run like that, perhaps this is why nothing seems to be sorted out? Too many people involved so that no clear decisons are made.

The price inrease between the start of last year and the beginning of this year was bound to happen due to the change in exchange rates. Whilst I can understand the problem you have of no fixed price, that price change is not really relevant to it.

How exactly does an advert for YOUR car preperation company help advertise the series? There are no club logos, club contact numbers or website details? I think the 5 page article is a fantastic advert for the series, I believe that will generate a lot of interest - keep up the good work guys!

Good to see more cars were out at oulton. Shame not all of the cars on the entry list turned up, hopefully they'll be there at the next round.

I have to agree with what cinimody has posted above, you need someone impartial running the champonship. As can be seen in this thread, if someone who has other interests besides the championship is involved it can leave them open to all sorts of speculation about their motives and goals.

There appears to be a mix up with the points table on the championship website or perhaps not?
Nick Hull (one of the championship organisers) has miraculously doubled his points tally by awarding full points for race results even though classes with 6 or less starters are only supposed to receive half points, as stated in the championship regulations. He is now second in the overall championship and Dave Hughes despite coming last in class in every race is 4th overall.
I'd be interested to know how the 924 drivers feel having dropped 2 championship places despite having beaten far more competitors in their class than both of these drivers.

How can you ever expect the championship to have any credability when this sort of thing goes on?

Good point well put fleggy!

Clubracer - do you actually have a car in the championship? If not, get yourself one built and start racing! Maybe then you can start worrying about the points!

And Cinimody, get your second car built and out there- thats the best advert for the series - once the grid sizes increase people will come flocking- look at how strong the mx5s are now!

cinimody.

You are talking about these guys in a very personal way and I for one find it offensive that someone, who obviously does not know the people you are talk about, should maybe think before you post such dribble on this forum.

I think you should look into a bit of history with our club before slinging round accusations about the guys running it now.

The BRSCC took control of the situation last yr when things were going from bad to worse and they were the ones who put up our two driver reps.

Since Jay and Nick were nominated, the club has recieved, a new race centre, new website, better organised paddocks, but most importantly, a committee that is there to give us as drivers the total say in how our club is run.

Your jibes about these guys are completely unfounded.

Last yr all of us as drivers were quite worried and upset about various things and we all, at one point or another spoke to Jay about our issues as he was always interested in what we had to say.

He then started to ask questions on our behalf and things started to change from there.
He was not worried about upsetting the applecart if it was for the good of all of us, and that we all found to be a good thing to have.
He was put forward by the BRSCC and we ALL voted for him to represent us.

I would also like to tell you that this committee, is a committee that can be voted in and voted out.
The guys have done a fantastic job of a very difficult time for us all and you calling them builders and truckies just shows me that you have nothing more intelligent to say our contribute to our club apart from name calling for the sake of it.

These guys are both businessmen with no gain to either of the companies to run a racing club so to me, they are running it because of a passion for the sport.
I would love for you to show me any Club racing clubs which are run by people like you who are in this for the money.
You build and prepare racing cars for people, you have more to gain than those guys so I would love to know what alterior motive you think they have.??

This club has never been this transparant, and I for one are more than happy with how it is being run.

I am glad that you don't like the championship as I for one would be more than happy to not have someone like you in our championship as you obviously have no idea what an enjoyable friendly club is all about.

And just for reference.
I find it bizzara that in one of your posts, not that long ago, you were praising, both Jayson and Nick for what they have achieved with the club and now you are critising them.
You are being very political!!
Why??
What are you trying to achieve with these personal attacks on 2 guys that have done everything they can to give us all a better championship than we had before.

I find it quite funny that you are happy to call them Builders and Truckies on here!
Maybe you should introduce yourself to the two of them at Snetterton, then tell them what you think of them and explain to them why they have made such a bad job of our championship.
And while your at it, maybe you could tell all of us drivers what we should think as well.

It is a shame that there are people out there like you who seem hell bent on bringing good people down.
If you don't like our championship then don't build cars to race in it!!

the comments of the new committee two official and two none make interesting reading the PDA has run for nearly 20 years with a co-ordinator and chairman very successfully these four come along and take over 4 months ago and all they can talk about is what they have done for the PDA and distort the truth about the past officials there is a saying two many cooks spoil the broth when they cannot cook, two years in motor sport does not make you an expert in motorsport on and off the track

Depressing reading. Based on the evidence of this thread this championship is a dead duck. Can you guys not understand how amateur it looks to be slagging each other in public? I wouldn't touch any of the main protagonists with 2 barge poles.

WHAT A MESS
Hi everyone. This is the first time I've been on the site, looking specifically for information on the new Boxster series which I was planning on joining at Angelsey.
I can't express how disappointed I am.
When I first heard about this series at the begining of the year I thought "sounds great" fast modern cars, parts readily available and a reasonable set of rules which I downloaded at the time.
Went out bought a car, stripped it and then the trouble started. Nobody wanted to take responsiblity for supplying the parts. the BRSCC said go straight to the suppliers, the suppliers said go to Newbridge Motorsport. I expressed my concern in an e-mail to the BRSCC (to which I never recieved a reply) and 24hrs later it was go straight to the suppliers. Of I went, and guess what some of the suppliers didn't know how much to charge so I paid far more for just about everything than what the PDA and the BRSCC websites had quoted.
I could live with that as they said a cut was to go to the BRSCC to be spent on the end of season dinner dance etc.
Now I find that a lot of the stuff I bought I could have sourced elsewhere and done my own deals and saved money. So just remember all of you who go to the dinner dance I paid for a big chunk of it.
I go racing for one reason, it is my hobby, I am a petrol head, I enjoy driving cars fast and I enjoy competion, I enjoy the weekend away from the hassles of the weekly grind, being polite to wingeing customers and wiping peoples arses. A barbeque in the paddock (not allowed) and a can with mates (not allowed) and a relaxing laugh is what its all about for me.
I don't want to know about any behind the scenes crap. I pay membership and subs and licence fees and god knows what else to have all that taken care of by "prefessionals". Ask me to give you my oppinion or vote on a subject and I will "quietly".
Just remember that pretending that your on your way to F1 is fine, but when you start to believe it and act like it the fun stops.
Get real and get professional.
