Transponder test

Is there any way, other than getting out on a circuit, to test if a transponder is working ?
Recently bought a race car, all but ready to go including a transponder being fitted. I have amongst the paperwork, a reciept for a transponder but it has a different number from the one on the car. I wonder if it was swapped for a faulty unit before selling and would like to know that it works before racing.

Not sure... Does the green LED come on indicating serviceability, or does that just indicate a 12V supply to the transponder?

I think the only real way would be to take it to your nearest circuit and get the timekeepers to test it, alternatively contact TSL and see if you could send it to them for a check.
