I looked at a few, decided against it as they seemed to be overpriced for what they were
I think it will depend on what body type you're after, the lutons seem good but look fugly, the old snap-on van ones are too heavy duty for what's basically a big transit and as they'r rated at 7.5 tons you can't tow a car with them unless you've got an artic licence

Its the 814 truck with sleeper cab and a big box we're looking at rather than the transit / bus variety.
Car will go in the back, but I have HGV2 (old school) so can tow as well.
Ideally I'd like something bigger 12 ton, but then my dad would need to get a licence as well which is another 1-1.5k
We did find a nicely done small coach, but had it on the weigh bridge at 6.4 tons!!! so enough left or the Tuscan and me but nothing else !!!

I've got an old prison van Ticks all the boxes for me, it's light (for a truck) with all the gear for the weekend 3 Caterhams awnings ad enough food to cater for 140, still under 7.5 ton
8 years old, very well maintained and unconverted, quite cheap
It was a pain to do mind, it took 4 days just to get the cells out

how the feck do you get all that in under the 7.5 ton limit.. I've looked at quite a few trucks that are well over with just one car at circa 1000kg a few spares and the awning
G
the chassis is a daf 45. the whole truck was only 5 ton before I took out 10 cells, 2 complete ebasapcers a MASSIVE air conditioning system and more electronic nonsense that you'd believe. the back is 22feet long which is just right for me as a Caterham is 10ft. Also the back is fully insulated (handy as we live in it on race weekends) I think as basically it's made of ally clad insulation it's quite light too. Decent personnel door helps tooG
Probably the best features are the emergency escape hatches in the ceiling easy to get up on the roof to watch the racing

my licence includes CE :- Large Vehicles with trailers Vehicles over 3500kg with a trailer over 750kg.
as well as ( C,C1,C1E)
my CE does have a 102 code Drawbar trailers only, which just means I cant drive an artic.
OK, I see now. The new licence system is a complete mishmash needs a solicitor to understand it. as well as ( C,C1,C1E)

If someone goes for HGV now I would assume there is no drawbar entitlement unless they go for a CE? (artic)licence.

I had an 814 28foot with loading ramps ex removal truck remember G (white with red) only problem was it did not have a beaver tail like the one i sold to leigh otherwise perfect for what we do chap. Get one with a taillift its so much easier. Mines only a 16ft box but we get everything in no problem.
Dont think I ever saw that one kev, just the Cargo and the new one... This has a 22ft body and a proper 1.5 ton alloy fold out tail lift..
:-)
tail lift.. Currently set to take 2 small cars, Will probably either need to add some removable stays or take out the 2nd level for the tvr. Hopefully it can stay as there are a couple of guys locally running sports 2000 who want to borrow it if it can still take two cars. would make it hany for storing stuff below as well.
Pops picks it up tomorrow

:-) we've only been looking for about 5 years... seen some right shockers in that time, as well as some very nice stuff. The trouble with a 7.5 tonner seems to be a decent tail lift and a low enough unladen weight to allow you to take much..
This truck also comes with a very lightly used awning as well, full length of the box.. so it'll easily take 2 tvrs under it at the circuit.. I'd better get a couple of potted trees
The coach we found locally was very nice and I saw them build it 5 years ago... trouble is it was too well built and only just had enough capacity to take the car but nothing else.. 6.4 tons unladen... The coach showed us how a properly built tail lift works... park truck, lover tail gate, drive car on lift, lift ramp roll car into truck.. loaded job done...
Its got a few things I want to do to it. for example the living space is well put together, clean tidy and insulated but only has seating and a TV. so will probably put a kitchen unit in there. seen some nice ones on the horsebox supplies sites.. the sleeper cab means no rush to get sleeping in the back
