I think it's generally the only one?! I think hard wiring them only has a minute drain (milli amps) on the battery.

Transponders - timing devices in disguise.... !hehe

Spot on - the worlds most expensive plastic box as far I can tell!!!

You can get them through www.tsl-timing.co.uk

you could try a 160 from ebay to save cost. Although the karting version some people do use them without issue in race cars.

If you think that at some time you may have more than 1 car, the rechargeable ones make sense, but some dont hold charge very long (eg 2 day race meeting you may need to recharge overnight)

I'm after a transponder for my Mighty Mini, cheapest I've seen so far is around £300. Anyone know where I can get one cheaper?

we got told last year that they would not be renting them this coming year (only in extreme cases, when yours is broke) so I brought my own frown

Does any one in the Northants area hire a circuit transponder out - I'm possibley not gonna make many meetings this season (seems a lot to spend out on for maybe one or two races) some one told me a lot of circuits hire them out quite cheaply but I'm a bit sceptical and would not like to turn up with out one.
