Evening all,

Well I start the slippery slope to spending money on motorsport soon as I take my ARDS next week.

My question is - Are there any racewear shops in Herts or North London way. What with Christmas coming up I thought Santa might wanna buy me some bits and I wondered where he should go?

Cheers

Grand Prix Racewear in Chiswick, not a long haul but I should have checked it was still there when I drove past a week or so ago.

If it's not there (there's no mention on the web) then their other place is at Silverstone.

Track and Race Car magazine did a big feature on overalls/helmet deals a couple of months ago, shame you missed that boat.

Grand Prix Racewear used to have a place in Ealing (from memory) but have closed this outlet, so Santa would have to jump in his sleigh and jingle up to their Silverstone store (which isn't too bad from North London).

Alternatively, if Santa were to wait for the AI (and go there on a trade day so he could move and hear himself think) he could talk to lots of people and try on all kinds of stuff.

Although some people say you shouldn't, I got my tailor made and custom embroidered race suit from AWS, on line, and also bought my crash helmet from Demon Thieves by the same means.

Maybe I have a racing driver shaped head (I do have a small brain smile ) but my particular helmet fitted perfectly, first time, so I didn't have to use Thieves no quibble exchange service. Sudden Impact (in Romford) painted it for me, by the way, and - although they're not cheap - their work is superb.

I also bought all of my underwear, balaclavas, socks, gloves, boots and stuff from Thieves thanks to the miracle of electricity.

All of this said, my wallet is somewhat larger than my brain, and I am a very lazy boy.

Apologies Stacy. Our posts must have crossed. I stand corrected, it was in Chiswick, wasn't it.

It was Chiswick but GPR went under last year. They have since reopened under a new owner and are trading at Silverstone.

There is always AWS in Ashford Kent who make their own stuff so you are not affected by the Euro.
If the OP can wait, a visit to the Autosport show in January will pay dividends in discounts negotiable on the day.
Oh and there is the Racecar Live show at Brands next weekend.

Race car live at Brands have demon tweeks going so it might be worth a call to see what they are taking there.
I am going but have been told to leave my credit card at home frown

If you do/can wait until the Autosport Show, I suggest buying your gear on the Sat/Sun - public days, not 'trade days'. In an attempt to boost their sales figures on these less busy/productive days, I obtained a further 20% discount on all my gear.

I was at demon tweeks stand last year and asked for 10% off a £560 crash hat, the salesman refused saying the best he could offer it for was £470. laugh

yes Agree absolutely. You'll get a better discount on the Sunday afternoon!
