New Super 70s Class

For info, the Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC) have decided to introduce a new class within their existing "Future Classics" series for next year (2010). This new class will be known as the "Super 70s" class and will specifically be for all Sports, GTs & Saloon/ hatches below 2 litres that were of a production type introduced berfore the end of 1981. The aim is to encourage more cars from the 1970s and very early 1980s out. It is hoped that the new class will provide opportunities for cars such as Alfa (Bertone) & Alfetta GTV, Alfa Sud, VW Golf GTi, Porsche 924, Lancia Beta Coupe etc etc to race against each other in a 40 minute mini enduro format & to be competitive against cars of similar age group.

1981 has been chosen as an age cut off specifically so that the cars in the new class are also all eligible for the annual CSCC invite to the "Youngtimer" 300Km race at the Nurburgring. All other regs for the "Future Classics" series will remain the same.

The new Super 70s class will run within the existing "Future Classics" series and will therefore have exactly the same regs, just a capacity limit of 2 litres and eligibility of car types restricted to those that were in production up to 1981.

The regs can be found here: http://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/Forms/2009%2... (scroll down past the registration form). That is all the regs! Note the need to have standard size and shape body panels ie no extended wheel arches or non original spoilers/ aerofoils etc.

Also note that, as I write this, the web site has not been updated yet to include the "Super 70s" class. "Super 70s" will be an additional class in addition to the existing Future Classics Classes but will be a singular class for the moment ie no sub capacity classes yet, to keep things simple and to see how the class develops.

Tyres are List 1B eg Yokohama A048s or Toyo 888s or equivelant.

Andy, after watching some of the future classics video from Snetterton I have a question. When do future classics and tin-tops overlap?

Arhh, very good question!! There is some overlap as some of our members of eligible cars like to do both races or choose between the days on a race w/e, if TT is one day & FC is the other, that suits them.

Nevertheless, TT is for Saloons & Hatchbacks up to 2 litres in a variety of classes, with no age restriction ie cars can be from the 70s right the way up to the present day.

FC is for all cars (Sports, GTs & Saloons etc) up to an age of 1990 (hence the reason why some Tin Tops cars are also eligible for Future Classics) and includes classes for cars that are greater than 2 litres.

The "Super 70s" class has been established within FC for the 2010 season to encourage more cars from the 70s (well up to 1981) out and to group the 70s cars that have currently run in Tin Tops with the < 2 litre 70s cars that have run in FC (if they wish) so that they can have a class battle together with cars of a similar(ish) performance/ technology/ age.
