Helmet - Blue Book
Discussion
After a bit of help, does anyone have a 2009 'Blue Book' handy and if so could you please have a quick look and let me know what the current standards for helmets are (this year).
As I wasn't racing this year I didn't bother renewing my licence but I will now be doing some testing with my old sponsor next week, so I have just renewed my Licence but need to know if my race helmet is still OK to use.
It's been a couple of years since I did an MSA sanctioned test day and can't remember if they check your kit

Type A only valid until the end of this year, so OK if you already have one but don't buy a new Type A!

Snell 2000 - Maybe discontinued at the end of this season but you wont know until they issue a new blue book or an update in Motorsport Now. I would wait until they get the new Blue Book out.
I understand (dont quote me) that Snell 2010 will be the new reg going forward and will therefore replace Snell 2005 standard, although normally the standard last for 10 years before they withdraw it.
I have never known them to check helmets on test days, so as long as it look ok and has a blue sticker on it you should be ok.
