Shakedown venues
Discussion
Hi, does anyone know of any good venues for shaking down a non-road legal race car. I need to bed in new brakes, new clutch and put some miles on a new engine (and make sure nothing falls off). I really don't want to do a test day as the car will be rev-limited for part of the day and I don't want the hassle of watching for other racers whilst I work out if the car is ok. Likewise for a trackday.
I'm sure there used to be some airfield venues that would let you use the field inbetween landings, etc for this kind of thing.
Thanks
TC

Cheers guys, tried Tockwith but the price is frankly stupid. More expensive than general testing at a proper circuit.
Have found Teeside Autodrome which will do a full day for £80, which is a lot more like it given my Yorkshire sensibilities.
Carl won't raise my rev limit from 4500 until I've got a few miles on it, and I need to bed in new brake discs, new pads, new clutch, etc. Just need to trundle around for 4 or 5 hours.

I wouldn't trundle too much if you're bedding in race pads/cast iron discs, you won't get the heat into them!Have found Teeside Autodrome which will do a full day for £80, which is a lot more like it given my Yorkshire sensibilities.

Well, there is trundle, and there is 'trundle'. Last time I ran an engine in I 'trundled' around castle combe and lapped the rest of the cars in the 20 minute session.
At least if you did a test day at combe there's only 6 to 10 at the most on the circuit at any one time so even if you are slower then as you may know you won't in the wayThen again they might get in your way going by your comment lol

Maybe this is worth considering!! Have found Teeside Autodrome which will do a full day for £80, which is a lot more like it given my Yorkshire sensibilities.
