Hi Guys

I've a Mk2 VW Golf Gti 16v, and am interested in prepping it for trackdays/ possibly the VW Golf Gti Championship through 750MC.

Unfortunately I'm a bit rubbish with the spanners, and was wondering if anyone out there could recommend someone with previous experience on Gti championship cars, to help me prep. Ideally looking at stripping the interior/ race cage/ seats/ chassis set up and new cam as per championship spec.

Alternatively, any resource with a list of general race prep companies would be appreciated. I have searched PH but with no luck.

Many thanks.

I'd start by looking on the 750MC Golf Championship forum. There's sure to be someone there with advice or who can help.

See if the golf championship website has contact info for ian carvell, he was greatly helpful (just with advice) when i built one in '07 and at very least he could advise.

Thanks lads. Couldn't find Ian's contact details on the championship website, but will try searching around. Any other details/advice gratefully received.

Again many thanks.

Have you got an idea on budget?

The money spent, and the expected level of finish, could mean the difference between less than £1000, and well over £10000.

Thanks for mail, Graham. Will email later.

Mat, looking to keep it cheap and cheerful. Have a few performance mods sitting here ready to go on, (strut braces, uprated springs and dampers, uprated discs etc) but need someone to help with cage, seats, stripping etc. Bolt in Sparco cage is about £450 from demons. Will try to do as much of the stripping myself but will need help fitting cage, tidying up interior and fitting seats, harnesses etc. Unfortunately I'm time poor as well as useless with spanners so will need help!

Would like to get the lot done for about £3k.... otherwise I might as well just sell it and buy one already done!

Thanks for all help and advice.
