Does anyone use EBC pads (of any type) for motorsport use? I wouldnt, none of the people who I know that race or rally would touch them with a barge pole...
Yet there are some who tell me they are the best thing since sliced bread..
anyone?

I use green stuff pads on the back of the 11. The car only weighs 500kgs so its not a problem. On the front im using Wilwood Smart pads which are pretty good.

The ecb pads do have a habit of breaking up so wouldnt use them on a heavier car or even on the front of mine.

I know of tin top racers who swear by them! mad fools!!

The driver who I bought my original car off used them and was happy with them.
I tried a set that lasted a couple of races and they were breaking up, tried Mintex M1144 and had similar problems but not as bad.
Switched to Carbotech and no problems since.
(Car weighs 980kgs)

Shouldn't you be on 1155s on track? 1144s on a car of that weight are quite likely to get issues.

When I originaly spoke with the Mintex rep he advised the 1144 as were were doing 15>20 minute races

Jeez 1144 are fast road pads IIRC...
I ran 1177's on the front of my 205 (750 kg) tarmac rally car and they were awsome..but they ate discs..

My uncle uses EBC on his Fiesta race car and they seem to work OK although I'd never fit them on my car.
After years of faffing around with different pads, all of which seem to glaze after a few laps, I've gone on to Performance Friction pads which seem to be the dogs danglies.

I wouldn't use them (EBC)

I use Mintex with my ASCAR (because the rules said I should), but for my Thundersaloon, I use Pagid RS29, which give good consistent bite with longevity. I tried EBC "race" pads, after 10 laps of testing, pitted, removed them, put them in the nearest bin. The car had some old Mintex "171" compound pads with it originally, they were miles better!! I'm most impressed with the Pagid RS29.

That's my personal experience/opinion.

I know people who have and still use EBC pads and are quite happy with them.

Rob.

Lots of kit car racers use the Greens or Yellows. I've used Greens and they been good, much better than 1144's. About to give the yellows a go.

Pads do seem very subjective though as some people swear by the 1144's.

I used hawk 9012 blue in the race frog eye and mintex comp shoes in the rear which worked very well. In the club sport i use pagid RS29's and have found them very good indeed. Personally i think EBC are a bit of a boy racer brand and I'd be quite happy to hear that any fellow competitor was using them........personally I'd stick to mintex/pagid ferrodo DSxxxx et al, they are expensive but worth it

EBC pads have won the BARC Westfield Champs for the last 2 years and probably for 7 of the last 10 years.

Use EBC yellows in my Phoenix R1. Ran at the front of Class B in 750mc RGB last year. Car weight 570 all up.

Cant fault them.

Isnt one of the problems of trying different pads, that you also need to change disks, due to material transfer onto the disks, changing pads to a different makeup can cause issues..

I run Mintex on the tuscan, ferodo ds on the tas.

I did try ebc on the chimaera( road car) with new disks and found them very unpredictable. some times they were fantastic, sometimes the did nothing, other times they would pull either left ot right !! just depended on how the pads heated up...

a mate tried ebc on his mg and they also went in the bin before race 2...

not exactly scientific testing but I wouldnt try them again..

I ran EBC Reds on the Chimaera and while the first set of fronts wore out at an alarming rate, the second set were the later ceramic compound, and I couldnt fault them. The EBC brand seems very hit and miss, if you find a setup that fors for you theyre great, otherwise theyre dire.

I ran EBC Greens when sprinting years ago, but since racing have always used Mintex when given a choice or the control pad. I couldn't fault them on the MGB when sprinting and seemed to be great, but wasn't over long periods with continual braking.

Though brakes only slow you down! smile
