Over the last couple of years it's had a fantastic revival. Virtually any type of sportscar can run, and the road modified classes have really helped boost the grids / the series.

Like Dan says its gone leaps and bounds over the last few years with most races being well over subscibed to a point Combe had to split the classes to make two races.
2010 marks a change to the championship as class A [for cars over 2000cc]hasn't been very well supported so they're only allowing cars up to 2000cc from then on so you won't see the 3.5 litre Jades etc again a shame but if you look at it rarely was there more than 4 in class A so i'm not supprised they've dropped the class.Still there has been so excellent racing hopefully it'll continue in 2009smile

I race in Special GTs class D..

Great fun, very well organised and very accommodating..

Unlike some clubs that make every effort to prevent you from racing by making everything as awkward as possible (not naming names but what is 3 x 250 ;-), Castle Combe club is a breath of fresh air.

It will be my 3rd season this year and I would never consider going anywhere else.

Hi Dylan.

Just a small point but the 750 mc did not make it awkward for you to race. They just refused to let a car with a NON MSA compliant rollcage race. I am surprised that any scruitineer lets your car enter a MSA governed race.

Cheers Matt

Really entertaining to watch. I've seen it a couple of times and the grid is always a fair size and also very interesting.

if your thinking of registering taffy youll need to be quick, there were 4-5 reserves at every meeting last year.

Hi Matt,
Who said anything about the rollcage? I was allowed to race in every 750 race I entered (with the cage as it was then - was certainly never refused to race like you imply)..

The thing that made the whole experience boring and annoying was the 'power trip' attitude of scruttineers and organisers - it certainly took me a while to grasp the concept that they are all doing me a big favour and that I should feel privileged to spend my money to race in their club..

Like I said - Castle Combe club is exactly what an amateur racing club should be.Great fun, great racing, full grids, amazingly well organised, everyone is extremely professional and polite.

Highly recommended!

It's Full, full grids and a full reserves list, spoke to some right horrible stroppy woman that told me it wasn't even worth me entering and then put the phone down, i thought Combe was supposed to a friendly place, FFS!mad

How can any series be "full". Surely as many people register as want to and the grids get filled up on a first come first served basis. After all, who know how many people will drop out during the season for a variety of reasons. Very odd.

I'm supprised at that Taffy yes the Gt's have been for that last couple of seasons fully subscribed and i also know there is a limited reserves list due to allowing them to qaulify just in case there is a slot if someone does have problems which has happend at most meetings if there's not the reverves go back into the paddock.

Come and join the forum and air you're disgust i'm sure you'll get an reply from the powers to be;)

I'm not disgusted by them being full, if it's full it's full and i'll go elsewhere, it was more the way I was spoken to by this woman that I got passed onto, not sure who she was but if any of my staff spoke to potential customers like that then they would be ex staff very quickly, have emailed the co ordinator and awaiting a response

i think you could register for the combe events and pay for them in advance (post dated cheques obviously). it would appear that this is what people have been doing and thus they have a full list of entrants for each race and a full list of reserves all ready.

no harm in registering and then sending off the cheques as people will inevitably drop out and reserve places get taken up. I guess from the sounds of it, they already have a lot of reserves for the reserves though...

makes you wonder what they are doing right that others are not though?
