If you were going to race in a cheap(ish) fun championship, which one would it be and why? It needs to be competitive and preferably Rwd and it would need to be arrive and drive, don't really want to buy a car

if competitve is what you want, then stock hatch is what you need. however running at the front is a 15k+ committment. Is that cheap enough? probably not.

mmm I know where there is a nice tasmin with brian james trailer for 3k. budget 2k to get JW or Toovey to build you a v6 and you're in the middle of a close pack.

you could then do the season and if your careful have a total spend off 10k, 12k would be a healthy total.

Ok its not a Tuscan but its on the track at the same time and there is a nice upgrade path, to bigger motors in the same series, and a market for the car when you move up.

Failing that blow the budget and buy my tuscan hehe

Possibly... My tuscan might be available next season, maybe with a special ajp in it... although to do that your looking at circa 2-3k per event..

I'm not looking for upgrading, just somewhere to have fun with good racing, don't want to spend 3k/event, that's Britcar drive money and i'm looking to move away from Britcar!

you could do arrive and drive in the ma5da championship for about 10 tops.
you could do formula ford 1600 or f4/mono for about 15.
you could do formula vee for around 8-10.
all rwd.

Mk1's well under budget.
I bought & ran a Mk1 in 2008, budget was less than half yours.

Minimal mods so you can have a front runner without spending big money.
Couple of drivers arrive & drive.

Mk2's well within your budget too

Wouldn't fit in a FF! MR2's do look like fun and have decent grids, talking to a few people re this, could be a giggle, also looking into caterham's

Mx5's!

£5-6k for for a decent car and the same again to run it for the year. Entries are £275 for a double header and tyres just £33 a corner.

Ma5da Racing have just got championship status and already have over 50 drivers signed up. Full grids, free hospitality and TV coverage for every round.

Blimey, I've never seen so many apostrophes in one page hehe

The 750MC MR2s have had some great races this year, so that's well worth looking at. There's also an MX5 championship out there.

One thing I will say though is that once you're looking at arrive and drive you'd be surprised how similar costs are across championships from slow stuff right up to really quick stuff. With arrive and drive you generally pay for any damage yourself, so in reality you're mainly paying for people's time, and the car's fuel and tyres.
