cheap/fun racing
Discussion
If you were going to race in a cheap(ish) fun championship, which one would it be and why? It needs to be competitive and preferably Rwd and it would need to be arrive and drive, don't really want to buy a car

mmm I know where there is a nice tasmin with brian james trailer for 3k. budget 2k to get JW or Toovey to build you a v6 and you're in the middle of a close pack.
you could then do the season and if your careful have a total spend off 10k, 12k would be a healthy total.
Ok its not a Tuscan but its on the track at the same time and there is a nice upgrade path, to bigger motors in the same series, and a market for the car when you move up.
Failing that blow the budget and buy my tuscan

I'm not looking for upgrading, just somewhere to have fun with good racing, don't want to spend 3k/event, that's Britcar drive money and i'm looking to move away from Britcar!

Mk1's well under budget.
I bought & ran a Mk1 in 2008, budget was less than half yours.
Minimal mods so you can have a front runner without spending big money.
Couple of drivers arrive & drive.
Mk2's well within your budget too

i think mk sportscars would be able to help you out.they are running two cars in the north west sportscar championship with a wide range of cars including catherham's westfield's and z car mini's.the cars are rwd and fitted with hayabusa 1300 engines.give them a call on 01709 816138

Mx5's!
£5-6k for for a decent car and the same again to run it for the year. Entries are £275 for a double header and tyres just £33 a corner.
Ma5da Racing have just got championship status and already have over 50 drivers signed up. Full grids, free hospitality and TV coverage for every round.

porsche 924's are fun! and VERY close. I beleive there are some people offering arrive and drive for the coming season.

Blimey, I've never seen so many apostrophes in one page
The 750MC MR2s have had some great races this year, so that's well worth looking at. There's also an MX5 championship out there.
One thing I will say though is that once you're looking at arrive and drive you'd be surprised how similar costs are across championships from slow stuff right up to really quick stuff. With arrive and drive you generally pay for any damage yourself, so in reality you're mainly paying for people's time, and the car's fuel and tyres.
