why? when the magnificent seven series has just been announced, this seems pointless? more championships = smaller grids = higher entry fees = fewer competitors = unhappy spectators

SEMSEC have been running various series for sevens for donkey's years, why stop now? After all the cars are very popular in club racing with all sorts of series all over the country. More to the point, greater opportunities for 1600cc sevens were requested by drivers racing with SEMSEC last year so the club reacted.

Also, if memory serves, SEMSEC and Mag 7 are offering quite different styles of racing:

Semsec - 12-15 minute sprint races
Mag7 - 40 minute races with pit stop and opportunity for driver change

Semsec - one day race meetings in just the South East (Lydden & Brands) which can suit some people's requirements re geography & costs of travel, overnight accommodation, etc
Mag 7 - full weekend race meets + options for Friday testing with the chance to run at circuits all round the country and Spa too, which can suit other people's requirements.

Semsec - classes that allow for slicks as well as road tyres
Mag 7 - road tyres only which can help on costs.

I'm not sure that they're competing that directly for drivers. Personally I hope to do some of both.

cheers
Nigel
