Helmet elegibility question
Discussion
Why would you buy a 2nd hand helmet? You never know where it's been/what's happened to it before. A good helmet is more important than a set of tyres & costs less! Also, when mine is replaced I will get one with HANS posts for future proofing, or if I decide to race anything faster.
To answer your original question, I believe that SA2000 is valid for next year, but probably not for the year after.

If you've got a cheap head, get a cheap helmet.
what a stupid statement - quoted by a man who has probably never read some of the testing procedures/results?"If you've got a five dollar head then get a five dollar helmet".

according the the latest government backed sharp testing for motobike helmets a 45 quid helmet is better than my 400 quid ari
not quite sure what that means...
The key word there is 'motorbike'... Bike and car helmets are made to different standards for a reason i.e. if you crash a car with a helmet on you will be subjected to different loads/forces than you would if you crashed a bike. Common sense really!not quite sure what that means...
Your £400 Arai is probably amazing at protecting your nut in a car but would be illegal to use on a bike. Same goes for a £45 helmet designed for bikes, but the other way around.

And, for what its worth, I wouldn't buy a secondhand helmet ever - you only get one head, protect it well!
