I'm the same as most, if someone does a bad job i moan, so i thought this time some praise was in order.

I sent my helmet(arai GP5) back to demon tweeks last week because the lining was ripped. It arrived back today, with new lining, chin strap and an invoice for £0.

Im really please with them, they have always been helpful before and i recommend them to everone.

Demon Thieves certainly know how to charge....

..but I've gotta say, last year at the Autosport show, I was getting kitted out to go racing. They did me a stonking deal on race wear and saved me about £150. Very helpful too.

Demon Tweeks actually started up in Tattenhall where I grew up. I used to walk up there as a toddler with my Dad and they let me try out all the race seats and steering wheels and things. Some years later I was given a guided tour of an RS500 they had in their workshops on the A41. Very friendly and helpful chaps and the whole clan strongly support historic racing and related endeavours. Glad to hear they are kind to their customers as well as gawping children...

Just for the sake of clarity, was the helmet brand new, or had you used it for a while?

If it was new I would have expected them to do no less, really...

If you had worn it many times, then it is a fine gesture by them smile

The helmet was 2 years old and used. It was a very nice gesture indeed.

Thought Arai had a lifetime guarantee on the linings?
Might be wrong.
DT might not be the cheapest, but they always give me discount and keep a hell of alot of stuff in stock.

You still in the area? I used to catch my school bus opposite the A41 depot.

Iain Jones? Bloody hell, mate. It's Andrew Swift - I got that bus with you every day for about 7 years. Funny place to meet, huh? Drop us a PM, we'll chat cars. I see you have a TVR, very nice. You might very occassionally see a black Civic Type-R around the lanes between Tattenhall and Burwardsley when I'm visiting the folks...

Crazy! I bought a house in Leeds in January with a garage for Chavhatch. I get back from time to time, but not as often as I'd like. I get to 20-odd motor racing meetings a year though so I might bump into you somewhere. Froze myself something rotten at Croft last weekend so suspect I'll be indoors until next season, but never say never.

You can nearly always blag 10% discount from them over the phone, I get it anyway via the 750club.
The thing with DT is that they carry a very large stock, the staff (a lot of them are racers) are quite knowledgeable and delivery is nearly always next day and they are no dearer than anywhere else TBH.

Yeah, I found them very helpful when I got kitted out. They didn't have the Alpinestars suit I wanted so they let me have the next one up (£200 more). for the same price! I didn't even have to ask or get or get all annoyed and angry, they just offered....

So as I'm in the same position, I rang Arai's UK distributors, they said that if the helmet was less than 5years old, then it is covered by warranty, as mine is a snell2000 (didnt quite get relevence, but wasnt going to argue), they were happy to take a look and do under warranty. Is this true? I'll let you know, as I've sent it off to them to be refurbed.

Similar story but about Willans - I bought a Willans harness for my Westfield but some of the stitching came undone after a couple of months and I discovered this on the Thursday before a hillclimb on the Saturday. They didn't have any in stock but they're only 30 miles from me so I drove it over and they restitched it while I waited in their reception area. There was no charge - and you might have expected them to do it for free - but they went out of their way to ensure that I was able to compete that weekend. Demon Tweeks and willans are both companies run by racers who understand...

OK, so helmet is back, fully refurbed, new straps. Quick service, about 4 days. Cost me £10 to post, but free of charge due to Warranty. My Arai is about 3 years old Damn good service I thought.

same things happened to my arai helemt the cheek pads have worn very thin, also spoke to the uk distributor who said send it to us (which i didnt want to do mid season)and we'll do a next day turn around. They even sent me tape to attach the aero kit to my helmet as well FOC.
