Help..

im thinking of buying a 106 xsi for hillclimbing/sprinting but the one im looking at has quite a modified engine, 106 (1.4)xsi head on a 106 (1.6)gti bottomend with yamaha carbs etc.
So i'm guessing road going class is out of the question? but will i still be eligible for the modified production class? or is the engine to modified? i dont want to end up in sports libre class with radicals and get annihilated.

I've looked in the blue book but im still unsure, just need someone with knowledge to clear it up for me!

thanks!

there is nothing "too modified" for mod prod in all reality, there is a morris minor with a fiat twin cam that regularly in the south west. the 106 would be in c1 and would most likely be up against some fast minis and imp engined stuff. the mod prod class is rarely road going though and most competitors take advantage of this by ditching a lot of weight and stripping the car, if you plan to keep hte 106 road legal you may not be as competitive.

Martin Bakers Moggy with the twin cam engine is Sports Libre, not ModProd

The rule for Modprod in hillclimbs is that the block must be externally identifiable as that used in the production car and be in the same place. (i.e you cannot mid mount it but you can lower it.) Pretty much anything else other than increasing the capacity beyond the class limit of the original engine is OK.

Yeah, but the "Imp engined stuff" breaks down a lot.

(and a 1.6 engined car would go in C2)

Wiscombe, wet? Surely not! Still there's always next year, I'm sure it will rain on me then.
