If a helmet cost 500 quid and it cost for instance 300(dont know the cost of getting one sprayed), quid to get it sprayed, thats 800 quid. I would rather get an 80quid helmet. They do look good though.
(assuming you mean £800 not £80), you could buy your helmet - ready painted - from JLF (or any of the other hat painters who are agents) thus getting a top quality hat, ready and jolly for your bonce.IIRC, you can buy it and get it painted in one hit from GPR.
The one-stop-shop deal may save your money compared buying one, then getting the John Bull Printing set out afterwards.
I thought the life on a hat was 10 years?

How much is a new head?surely its more important for a bike magazine to test these things given their readers are more likely to come into contact with the tarmac in comparison to a racing driver?
Expensive helmets are designed for people with more money than sense and want to fit in with fashion.
i can not recall reading of a recent accident which has resulted in a death of a driver where the quality of the helmet was considered to be the reason of death.

That, according to the likes of BSI, and the EU, that bike helmets are now a different standard to car racing helmets.
