Birkett 6hr Relay
Discussion
Hi folks I'm looking to put together a team for this years Birkett on 25th October. Anyone interested in joining me please get intouch, I need 3 maybe 4 extra drivers (and cars). The criteria are you and your car must be between 60 and 90 seconds lap times round Silverstone national, be capable of running a 45min-1hr(ish) stint, and not be running on a novice cross. You'll need to provide your own fuel and someone who can strap you in/generally pamper you. I'll be providing goffers and food etc.
Regards
Iain

The entry forms havent been posted to me yet (they usually come out around the first week in June), but I'd want to put in an entry as soon as possible once they do. Could you email me so I have you details.Regards
Iain
Its a relay race, with a team of 4-6 drivers in their own car. one car and driver on the circuit at one time... kind of why its called a relay
a good crack though. I've done it a couple of times... To win you need to be very consistant and ideally run each car for 1 hour to minimise pit stops...

I should be involved with a team put together from those within and around our championship. I'll be there one way or another though, so will keep an eye on this thread.
Anyone know what the national time might be if you were doing 1:50ish on the international?
what kind of times do you do at say pembrey?Anyone know what the national time might be if you were doing 1:50ish on the international?

Not been to Pembry yet (last year was my first part-season, and the car wasn't ready in time for that). I'm rather glad as it was hugely wet, so I can't even give you very meaningful times for those that did go.also how modified is your car?

The car is race-modified, for MGCC Midget Challenge class B, just about as far as you could go in the regs. Had it on Tom Airey's rolling road for it's first run and he got 130bhp at 6000 rpm, but it was spinning the wheels on the rollers so couldn't go to the 8k red line. Seems rather a lot, and I don't hold much certainty about rolling road figures, but Tom knows his stuff.
I'm not a very experienced driver though, so I'm slow (and there have been some small things to iron out on the car after the build - got to get my racing driver excuses in). My fastest times so far this season are, 59.9 at Brands Indy and 1:31.7 at Combe. Oulton was only 2:42.8 in very wet and slippery conditions (was very glad to finish!). The leaders in my class are about 2-4 seconds ahead of me at the moment depending on the circuit but have at minimum 3 years experience over me!
