Have you entered? Any of you coming along to spectate? It's Saturday 22nd February, the main fun happens in the afternoon, with 40 minute regularities races .

For the first time, Silverstone is charging spectators, at £5 in advance/£8 on the gate. A shame, but not bad for the entertainment on display, with a seat in the grandstand too.

I've entered the Mustang this time, giving Clive The Corvette a break. The Mustang will be rapid in a straight line, for the first two laps, before heat soak and brake fade take its toll. getmecoathttps://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
My expectations are modest, but it will make a lovely noise inside and my first chance to really open the taps.

If you're there, do come and say hello. I'm in the same afternoon session as Richard and Izzy Hammond, so there will be camera crew everywhere.

Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave, didn't see this message until just now (online looking for photos). I was there in my Mazda Eunos/MX-5 (the early white one with the silver roof), #68. There were a couple of Mustangs in my session, last one in the afternoon - the supercharged 2000s one and the 60s Shelby coupe.

Hope you had as much fun as I did!

I thought it was always a non-spectator event... Would have watched it otherwise.

How did you both get on? What and who won?

It used to be free entry for spectators, but was a fiver this year. Didn't seem to reduce the crowds, but all competitors got 4 free tickets so that could account for ~500 people if they were all used (and under 16s get in free).

Results haven't come out yet, it's all very complicated with the handicapping system so it takes a while. Provisionals might come today though.

How did the Mustang get on?

Bumped in to Hugo at Race Retro who seemed to have loved clambering out of a NASCAR through the window!

I do remember seeing your car, you seemed to be going well. I was in the silver, supercharged 2003 Mustang. smile
