I’m looking to start out the CSSC tin tops series this year and looking for a prepped car ready/almost ready to go.

I can turn a spanner and but would like to concentrate on racing rather than finish someone’s project. I’ve been all over the 750 classifieds and others but wondered if there maybe something lurking in here that may fit the bill.
Budget up to around 5k.

i'm just considering the same thing - are the tin top series good with Classic and Sportscars?

Don’t think I understand the question.

If you mean can classic’s or sportscars enter the CSCC Tin Tops series, then I guess that the answer is that classics can, as long as they have a full body shell (ie not a convertible) and less than 2 litres. I don’t think sportscars can enter.
However, the CSCC has plenty of other series for classics and sportscars, depending on the age of the car - swinging sixties is for classics and sportscars from….the 60s; future classics is for cars from the 70s and 80s; modern classics is for cars from the 90s; new mileniulm I’d for cars from the 2000s etc etc.

Have you asked the CSCC representative for Tin Tops?

They may know good cars from ‘23 who haven’t returned.

Brilliant! See you there. Running my MGZR 170 #114 in the tin tops.
I’ve got a track day on 09 march at Silverstone for a shake out and then a few new bits on the car for Donington, can’t wait 👍🏻

Not sure whether i will be racing or not but i have entered, although working away from home is getting in the way.
Enjoy it. Mag7s has generally very good driving standards but be prepared to be shocked how quick the front guys are and where (& how close) they overtake you, even in corners where you didnt think it was possible!

You nailed it though - yes, I meant 'Are the tin top series run by the classic sports car club any good?'

my experience has all been Caterhams, and just wondered how the series compared (not withstanding obviously FWD etc)

I have access to a Mk 7 Fiesta that I could prep and use...

I am a very strong advocate of all the CSCC series having raced in Tin Tops (in a Fiat Uno, Alfa 33 and Toyota Carina), Future Classics (in a 924S and 944 Turbo), Modern Classics (in a 944 Turbo) and now Magnificent 7s (in a Caterham)!
Well organised meetings, good paddock atmosphere, good calendar, good driving standards, good VfM, what is not to like?
