I'm in, once again the regs work against the big Corvette, but I'll have some fun anyway. I'm one of only two cars to have a target of 16 laps (the other being a 370Z), plus the 2nd highest handicap (the highest being a BMW 760Li

Sadly I can't make it this year - I made my first trip to the Pom last year(50 years of curiosity finally got the better of me )And it was a hoot.
Fishy Dave is far too modest to mention his pace last year in his zillion mile Vette. But I will - he was very fast indeed and I enjoyed watching him catch and pass a lovely and very rowdy Ford GT 40 .

After the drama of neighbours houses catching fire on Friday night and less than 3 hours sleep, I really enjoyed myself yesterday.
The scrutineering queue was huge, it took more than an hour to get through, then another 20 minutes for the suitcase test, meaning a number of competitors were late/stressed for the drivers briefing.
The organisers had already given me the second highest handicap and highest number of laps (16) to achieve in the 40 minute afternoon 'race'. Morning rain meant the circuit never dried beyond that greasy stage. After my morning performance they decided to give me an extra lap, just for fun! Not only that but they wouldn't share where anyone was starting, until we lined up in assembly. I was third from last!
I'd already decided to make fun the priority and had asked Martin Short if I could chase him for a bit, to make things interesting. 😉 He gamely agreed, but we'd not counted on some very slow cars ahead of him, on his side of the grid, that meant after two green flag laps he was some way behind. I waited for him and he zoomed past at Maggots.
In the morning briefing we were told 'it's not a race'. Try telling that to Mr Short. I tried to hang on to the rear of his 4wd Yaris GR, but no chance, he took no prisoners through the traffic. A combination of the Corvette's tyre pressure coming up, my confidence growing and very slowly the track getting slightly less damp I caught him up eventually, after about 7 laps! We enjoyed ourselves, chasing for a couple of laps. Blue flags were being shown, so I nipped past in a nicely choreographed display at Luffield and thought I'd see how close to the front of the pack I could get.
I very nearly made it too. The lead Alpina race car had opted for race wets and they were going off, whilst my AD09 Yokohama stayed consistent (and so much better than the old tyres I was using last year). Coming into the final corner he was held up by lapped traffic and I got a run to the line, finishing about 0.2 seconds back in 2nd. Brilliant fun.
Thank you to everyone who came over to see the car or chat, particular nice to see families who have bought a book.

I popped along for the first time in about 10 years and - despite the cold - thoroughly enjoyed it. As ever, some fabulous and eclectic cars and the opportunity to hear some proper noise in winter. Lots of cool stuff but the unsilenced CSL's and GT40 were a highlight as was the wonderful Bugatti 35C and the normal Frazer Nash frolics.
I thought the Corvette looked and sounded great on track and you looked to be travelling very quickly and tidily!
