Hey all,

Have been a little lapse on renewing my license this year, a mixture of lots at work and then realising when you turn 45 you have to get an eye test and can't just do it online, anyway, that's the racing driver excuses out of the way... the question:

Does 3-day license renewal process mean 3 working days they turn around and then you have to add in postage days. So say I send it tomorrow, and it arrives with them on Wednesday, they process and send it out Friday, and arrives back with me Saturday... or does it mean, send tomorrow, arrive Wednesday and it will be back to me on Friday (the 3rd day)?

Racing on Sunday and trying not to have to go for 3 hours very expensive turnaround?

If you can’t do it online it’s a bit awkward as they may take a while to process postal applications.

I’m pretty sure the 3 day turnaround is just for their part as they cannot be held responsible for the absolute stshow that is Royal Mail. However, it is a moot point as once they have processed your renewal they will send you an email that you can use in place of your physical licence until it arrives.

Yeah, fair point on the reliability of Royal Mail.

I will send guaranteed next day I think and then at least by Friday it should have been processed and I can get email proof before the race.

Really paying the stupidity tax here for not sorting earlier boxedin

I’m sure i read somewhere that so long as your licence has been processed you are good to race, even if you dont have it physically. Might be worth calling your club and seeing what they say in case it doesnt arrive in time

I ticked that box didn't have a clue what it meant and sent it off and didn't take long to come back.

You can actually go and pick them up in person if you need to, pretty sure they are in Biscester which would be on your way (ish) to Silly this weekend smile

Thanks, Geeks, that is an option.

Though sent yesterday on next day delivery and they have sent an email already saying they are processing it, so think we will be good for the weekend.

Just thought when I did mine I got an email that allowed me a certain amount of days with a temp license before you physical one arrives as long as you have that your fine. I'm sure they've seen it before since I did the same a month ago.

IIRC, Chris Harris once told a story of turning up there in person, after he realised his race licence had expired the day before the Spa 24. He got the service you’d expect when dealing with a well-known automotive journalist from an in-person visit.

Yes, fair point missed boxedin

Still wasn’t sure if they take 3 days to send the email, not the 1h 30 they did it in. Which makes me wonder what the 3 hour turnaround gets you? Hand delivered to your door? rofl
