I think that I can remember when Geoff Farmer used to race this.
Used to love the Super / Special saloons & GT’s.

Numerous special saloons and Modsports from the era are racing today with CSCC.

There’s also just been announced a HSCC special saloons and Modsports series.

I remember watching the special saloons when they were a support race for the DTM at Donington sometime in the early nighties. As I recall there was a black Espirit of some description in the race.

I loved the way all the cars were built by their owners (or previous owners) in a garage somewhere, having seen those and the Equinox programme on Ben Bowlby really made me want to do the same... never did obviously frown

I saw an article in Autosport last year which made me think i'd like to get involved in some way in that type of racing....

From a look at the photo I immediately thought, "there's not much Esprit in that".

Confirmed by the listing,
"this is not a Lotus but a Maguire spaceframed Lotus Esprit shaped racing car".

Esprits were built like two fibreglass boats, one fitted upside down on top of the other with a horizontal joint all the way round. From the pic it looks as though that's an "upper half" significantly modified (e.g. very long front bonnet/overhang.) and stuck on top of something else.
