Looks interesting. Mostly a national branding exercise for club-level auto testing, road rallying and navigation exercises, but which should encourage other clubs to sign up and raise the profile of such activities. The sort of support for the grassroots that MUK should be doing, encouraging participation by publicising the fun one car have with their own, unmodified, road car.

The real ‘secret’ behind this is to attract people who’ve never thought about it, rather than the already converted - we need to attract the cruise type people who spend a fortune on their cars and make them realise that for a couple of PCP payments, or a new exhaust, they could buy a mini 1 (for example) and have a lot of fun.
I get that they’re trying to attract new people - but are they trying to get them to buy a car, or to turn up in what they drive already? The focus IMO should be on the latter, even if they have a crappy Focus diesel and no space on the driveway, they can still “do” motorsport on a Saturday. ChevronB19 said:
Yes, I am a committee member on a 800+ Members Club that has won best club a few times from MSUK and it’s previous iteration. We’re nominated as one of the lead clubs.
Let me know if you need any more info, it’s in early stages but I’ll do what I can.
Interesting that some clubs are being nominated as lead clubs. I’m a committee member on a similar club, we do plenty of grass roots events and although we know about it there is no real contact to advise us what we are supposed to do.Let me know if you need any more info, it’s in early stages but I’ll do what I can.
I believe it’s supposed to come from the regional association’s, perhaps the problem lies with them?

Yep I've asked YMC if anything has come to committee about how a club becomes one of the not yet all chosen 50.
There is perhaps a line of communication that is broken?
The regional associations date back to when the best way to find out about stuff was attend your Local motorclub meet? There would be a rack of regs out at a club, you relied on a postal club newsletter for info etc?
Some are still very active associations but despite being pretty active myself in a few local clubs I don't recall ever seeing anything form the multiple regional associations that those local clubs are members of, being passed on to me as local club member................maybe info. has been passed on and I just missed it.
I got someone pointed towards making an entry on two local club, (YMC & IDMC) autotests via the streetcar face book page so it is working in some small way.
I see the initiative as a good one but not sure if the planning and delivery of the intended outcome matches the expectations, but there again I'm not 100% sure what the expectations are from MSUK.
MSUK seem to want those newbies interested potential Streetcar stuff to contact the MSUK and then the MSUK match them with a club that puts on Streetcar suitable events.
The newbie I've pointed to the local events has bypassed the MSUK, but there again I wouldn'y class them as a complete newbie or the car they have as a streetcar so maybe I won't get a MSUK yellow card

I’m struggling to see how the regional associations fit in these days, ANWCC is pretty good, but the others in the north not much seems to happen really.
Part of our committee meeting agenda every month is a report from our delegates from each of the ones we are in, rarely is anything said of any note, that’s despite one of our commitee members being the secretary of an association !

There is a 'Taster' Autotest being run at Popham Airfield near Basingstoke.
It is on 1st May, the same day as the Classic Car show.
The event is on grass in an all-forwards, production car (driver + passenger) format.
Passenger rides are available for a small charitable donation (Air Ambulance)
