Or alternatively, ‘squeaky bum’ corners.

Partly inspired by the ‘boring circuit’ thread, many circuits have at least one corner which, even if taken at 90%, inspire a degree of respect.

The ones that spring to mind (some of which I have in occasion successfully done flat, and on others, often in the same race, failed spectacularly) include:

1) Eau Rouge, Spa (obviously)

2) Bridge, now defunct, old Silverstone GP circuit

3) Paddock Hill bend, Brands Hatch

4) Island bend, Oulton (I have about a 9:1 record of successfully doing this in top with no lift, but have now decided discretion is the better part of valour and now lift)

5) Lodge, Oulton (only when at 100% commitment)

6) Devil’s elbow, Mallory (when pit entry was on the exit)

7) Jim Clark Esses, Croft (only when done totally flat)

Other than Spa, my experience is solely UK, but any other contributions according to the spec (scary and challenging) welcome!

Some good choices there.

I will add - Blanchimont (Spa) and Dibeni (Pembrey).

I've always thought that Church corner at Thruxton focuses the mind somewhat!

I find Goodwood far more worrying than Church.

It might just be me but I’d have to add Water Tower to the list.

Good one. I only did the full circuit a few times, a long time ago, but I seem to remember it was a bit of a jump?

I find Old Hall the spookiest corner at Oulton. I must get over it as it’s a much less scary corner with the new concrete run-off at the exit. Mind you I had the throttle stick wide open into Island last year. It was my first time there in Formula Ford and I was NOT ready to take it flat (I still don’t).

The entry to the hairpin at Cadwell is a bit squeaky bum when you’re nose to tail as you’re trying to stabilise the car after the flip flops.

The shady area to the left after the Jim Clarke esses at Croft looks pretty foreboding to me.

Quarry and IIRC Tower at Combe.

Blanchimont is a big one if you’re in a pack and if it’s wet.

For me , it was the fast left hander at the end
Of the main straight at Bruntingthorpe....

In my Fury, that should have absolutely flat chat,
So approx 12mph....

I never quite managed to do it fully flat- always
Had a little very fast off/on lift ....

Loved that corner , had to go hard to the left as another
Fast right after that...

Don't know when Dingle Dell was reprofiled but I have pics from 1995 BTCC with many cars just off the ground .

Bottom of Barregarrow, IOM

All ways feel that I have arrived way to fast, the bike bottoms out mid bend and I come out thinking that I could have gone quicker.

There is something about the approach that suddenly makes me feel that it's tighter that it is and I always have a panic at the last moment.

I go from determination to panic to disappointment and frustration in about 5 seconds

Great list.
I must have very little imagination but I really like most of the corners on that list. The notable exception is Paddock Hill at Brands. I must have done that corner thousands of times over the years and I swear I have never done it right once confused It’s so bad that I actually hate it now, even on a track day my head just vanishes up my arse as I go past the pit lane exit and I make a complete horlicks of it.
As for Spa for me it’s Pouhon I find the most scary, Eau Rouge and Blanchimont are ace corners.

You can add Craner Curves at Donnington to the big fun flat out list. The bomb hole at Snetterton on the old circuit was a belter as well. driving

Agree with both, Craners and the old bomb hole.

For corners I’ve never, ever, got right, Duffus Dip at Knockhill, nor the next 2 corners. I can usually dial in at least reasonably well early on, but I have *never* come out of that sequence thinking I’ve even approached how it should be done.
