Hillclimb / Sprint Intro Class (2021 onwards)

Motorsport UK has just published regulation changes for 2021 that confirm that clubs can run an Intro-Class from next year. Standard cars only but new drivers only need an RS Clubman licence, I think you can apply for those on the day if needed and they should be free. Seems a good way of getting into the sport.
Still don’t agree with ‘standard class’ as it’s impossible to police. Just make road going as a whole entity become the ‘beginner’ element, and then mod prod requiring Nat B, with the big single seaters needing NAT A.
There’s also a lot of other regs that need changing.. engine swaps, aero etc.. But that’s an argument for another day.

I love 'Standard Car'. Having previously competed in stage rallying, I love the simplicity. I also love that you can have some entertainingly good results in a car that should be in the slowest 10% at an event (I was 32nd of 120 overall at Abingdon Long Course Sprint this year in my bog-standard Renault Clio). What I love most is that the focus on improvement is on me - the car is what the car is. I don't get the 'impossible to Police' thing. Sure, some people take the piss, but they're ALWAYS the slowest people at the event. I've never been beaten by anyone driving a car that I've been remotely suspicious about. Bloke who entered with a MX5 on Ohlins coilovers - 20 seconds slower than me up Loton Park. Bloke in a Z3 with all kinds of obviously non-standard bits under the bonnet - 7 or 8 seconds off the pace at Curborough. Bloke in Clio Cup at Curborough who'd removed a load of stuff to save weight - 3 seconds off the pace. It's funny rather than annoying.
I suppose people could change cams or have remaps, but we all know those kinds of mods make bugger all difference on a normally aspirated car with standard airboxes etc. A limited slip diff is about the only thing I can think of which would make a useful performance improvement and be hard to detect.

Motorsport UK will never reduce the licence requirements for Road Car competitors, they would lose over half of their Speed licence fund for the year. Wouldn't stack up financially for them. Galveston said:

Why were the above people not moved out of your class if they were clearly cheating?
I agree that it’s a good idea, but as I said above, needs to be policed better.

The only way someone would be moved out of the class is if another competitor complained to the organisers. I'm certainly not going to bother doing that if they're slow. I've only moaned to the organisers twice in ~50 events in SC - and that's when people have entered very ineligible cars (e.g. a Millington powered Mk2 Escort, or a Focus RS).
I don't get why you're singling out Standard Car? Some people take the piss in every class at a hillclimb or sprint (or any other form of club motorsport).
