Escort rally car with Monte Carlo AP brakes, for hillclimbing currently using Mintex 1144 pads, any suggestions for others please? Calipers are CP2271.

Are there problems with the brakes at present ?

How short or long are the hillclimbs ? How much braking is required ? How fast/powerful is the vehicle ?

Be very wary of putting anything special on for hillclimbs. I had uprated pads for one event and nearly crashed at the first corner, being stone cold they were well outside of their operating window.

I went back to cheap OEM spec pads and they were much better (but would be toast after two laps at a track day).

1144's are pretty decent for the reasons mentioned above. You don't want anything that needs a lot of heat.

And some very aggressive pads can just eat discs in no time, for no real benefit either.

And as well as pads....fit either OEM, or very good quality discs.

As above... consistency and feel are what you need for hills and sprints. Good quality OEM are ideal, if you can get them for your application.

For your use, I would look at Carbonne Lorraine RC5+ pads.

They have great bite from cold and loads more feel than Mintex pads.

Did note them but they aren't listed for my calipers!

I've used Performance Friction 01's for sprints and hillclimbs for a good few years and am very happy with them. They perform well from cold and don't drop off to any extent when hot. They are not grabby or too abrasive but are a tad dusty.

CL’s U.K. distributor should be able to make a set to your requirements - they can water cut a pad down to what you need. Maybe worth giving them a shout for cost options etc.
