I've got a Trackday booked for Monday and whilst doing a quick check over of the car it became apparent that the friction material on one of my front pads has come de-bonded from the back plate so I need to order a new set asap.

Not being all that impressed with the pads I have falling apart with more than 1/2 of the friction material left I was going to order RS29's instead.

However someone has suggested trying the EBC RP1's, I've generally not considered EBC.

I will want to use them for 2 hour races in a 180bhp, 1050kg e36

Has anyone used the RP1's and any feedback good or bad?

You may as well use cardboard. EBC pads are s**te imo. I've had excellent results from PF 01's since starting to use them over a period of around 8 years,

That was always my opinion of EBC, but based on 20 year old info and experience of greenstuff etc

so was interested to see if they have improved especially with what appears to be a new compound in the RP1.

I used a set on my Corvette C6 and had parts of the material crumble and miss a part of both front discs, that was after one track day. I sent them back, no quibble, they replaced them but am now going back to Mintex F4R which have been superb on the Corvette and R53 MINI I race.

For future reference I would strongly recommend Performance Friction pads. Specifically the 08 compound for endurance stuff. Amazing pad.

Out if interest, what pads were they that fell apart?

Performance friction 08 compound, they've also done it on a friends car in the past which was part of the reason I made a point of having a good look at them before my trackday, bloody annoying as they otherwise they seem a really good pad. They don't seem to like the winter despite my car being stored in a garage.

Didn't look too bad in the caliper, took them out to have a look before the first trackday of the year and the friction material fell off.

To be fair to PF, they have offered to look at them so I'm sending them back so that they can see the issue.

That’s strange Andy. I’ve used Performance Friction pads for years and never had that issue. Even with cars stored outside.

I’ve only ever had that happen with Carbonne Lorraine pads.

Having spoken to a few people about it it sounds like it’s a bit of a risk with lots of race pads as the metal in the friction material gets damp and that’s
