Bernie's Sports Racing & V8s have kicked out sports racers!
Discussion
Interesting.
I can’t find any announcement on the 750mc, Bernie’s V8s or Crossle Drivers Club web sites but, the reference to Crossles has been removed from the list of cars in the 2020 regs compared to 2019. Maybe the series is going to concentrate on road car derived eligibility?
Wonder where the Crossle 9S’s are going to race now? they are quite possibly the prettiest race cars ever produced in my opinion.
3-4 years ago when the SR> series was going through a bad patch, and before it joined in with Bernie’s series, the. Crossle 9S raced with Sports 2000 Pintos for one season. It’s a pity they can’t race with the HSCC in one of their series, but, whilst the cars are continuations of the originals, they use a modern Zetec engine so probably not possible. I really hope they can find a good and appropriate home.

As an occasional Crossle racer I think it’s a bit of a dick move. Not least by 750MC who have been well served over the years by Crossle’s on their grids, especially during the recession when SRGT numbers were dwindling.
It’s the old story of a very fast car upsetting the owners as of slower cars. Sadly there are too few active Crossle’s to push back. As a former F1 driver said “racing cars don’t have doors, toilets have doors.”
I understand there is an offer for them to run with S2 again, who are a thoroughly nice bunch of people and do include some current and former 9S drivers.
Edit to add; interesting they’re happy for your Taydec (another Zetec engined recreation of an original design) to run. Don’t get too quick 😉

If it was me, and it never will be (!), I would run with the S2000 people; perhaps on slicks to try to even performance. It’s the old story of a very fast car upsetting the owners as of slower cars. I would also see if the HSCC would allow a separate Crossle 9S class within Thundersports, even allowing for the Zetec engine. Got to be worth asking the question?

I’ve got no doubt EL is all over it! I know that’s the plan for S2. I would also see if the HSCC would allow a separate Crossle 9S class within Thundersports, even allowing for the Zetec engine. Got to be worth asking the question?
I don’t think 750MC have confirmed no Crossle’s yet, so maybe it’s wishful thinking on someone’s part...

Lovely cars and I had a great time with my old one a few years back
I do wonder these days whether it would be feasible to convert one into FIA spec with a BMW or twin cam engine or whether that’s impossible and there are two many differences
I have wondered that too. Other company’s continuation cars have got FIA papers so it might be possible. Is it just the engine that is different from the original spec of the cars? It would be certainly worth asking the question, and if it is possible to get FIA papers for these cars, it would probably be worth making the investment in swapping the engine for a Lotus Twin Cam.I do wonder these days whether it would be feasible to convert one into FIA spec with a BMW or twin cam engine or whether that’s impossible and there are two many differences
