Race helmet painting and design
Discussion
I used Liam at LDC Designs, he is based in Camberley so not far from you.
I had a vague idea on what I wanted and he was fantastic, from initial consultation to different designs then to paint, can't fault him!
He does a lot of helmet design for Piers Dowell, hydrorace and design/paint for BSB guys.

Paul Garner is a perfectionist and does a load of Superbike helmets for riders.

What I don’t understand is why it costs as much to paint a helmet as it does to paint a whole car!
Yes, some of these fancy designs are very complex with sparkly paint and all that but when I was getting quotes for a simple 2 solid colour design the figures were around what I would pay for a full respray on a race car.
What am I missing?

I hear what your saying and it makes it even more difficult to justify when the lifeing on them is relatively short. Have you considered self adhesive graphics such as these https://harrisdecals.com/products/completehelmets....Yes, some of these fancy designs are very complex with sparkly paint and all that but when I was getting quotes for a simple 2 solid colour design the figures were around what I would pay for a full respray on a race car.

I’ve seen these a couple of times recently but I was under the impression that this was frowned upon by scruts.
I personally know two people who have been made to remove vinyl from their helmets by scruts.
I did wonder about this and it's the main reason I decided not to apply them. I guess its the luck of the draw with the scruts.I personally know two people who have been made to remove vinyl from their helmets by scruts.
