Hello Piston Heads members
My first post here, I moved over from Australia last year and my race car came with me. I have been enjoying the UKs brilliant circuits at track days but now looking to do a club race series for 2019. My car is a AWD turbo Mazda 6 MPS, Im located in Cornwall so its a drive to all series. Any ideas appreciated!

Nearest race circuit to the west country is probably Castle Combe in Wiltshire.

There is a saloon series based there ,can't remember it's exact name but try their website .

Not much run off at Combe ,so easy yourself in gently if you go there.

Roadsports (series) or Club Enduro (championship) with 750MC.
CSCC are also a good club to race with.

I did a track day a Castle Combe and it certainly is old school, fast, fun with that extra element of danger. Im happy to travel to race, in Australia its fairly normal to go interstate racing with big road trips.

The car wouldn’t be eligible for the Combe saloons, but could run in their GT championship.

Could run it in the wssc based in pembrey for 4 meetings then meeting each at Mallory park and pembrey anything goes pretty much as long as its not a prototype car or single seater. See cars managing from the humble mini to gientta g55 too ex btcc cars.

Welcome to the club. I race with the CSCC and am always the one who smiles when it rains...

The Evo is for sale at the moment (not mine, I borrowed it a few times when the Integrale was broken).

Hi Thurbs,

I race with you in the top picture, was a good fun event considering the small numbers!

Interesting car, have not seen one used here.

As above 750mc roadsports will be a good place to look, have raced with them before and you get a really varied grid which makes it good fun, 45 mins race, a practice session and a 25 min quali session and priced reasonable low, you can solo drive or 2 x driver (mandatory stop so does not affect result whether 1 or 2 drivers). I will be doing one or two this year once the new car is ready (Tipo 16v).

https://www.750mc.co.uk/formulae/roadsports.htm

A - Super GT - 300bhp/tonne

B - GT - 240bhp/tonne

C - Supersport - 180bhp/tonne

D - Sport - 145bhp/tonne

There are also some random 750c all-comer races for salooons and GT you can enter for little money.

Castle Combe sometimes also run these random open all comer saloon events so worth registering with them (you can't run a 4x4 turbo in their saloon series any more).

Was yours the Escort? I have never seen a car snake out of clearways like it before!

Shame you missed the first race.

It was my first race on slicks and I was too tentative at the start. Even so I was way out classed by the small field which entered.

Nothing to add on the topic, which hasn't already been mentioned, however keen to see more pics of the Mazda if there are any wink
