Clubs for sprinting
Discussion
So I'm looking at doing a few sprints in my VX220 this year, probably in the South East (which rules out Javelin's stuff).
To that end I can see I'll need to join a club - being based in Hertfordshire the Herts Auto and Aero Club seems to make sense, or maybe Borough 19. My question though, is about which events I could then enter. Does the club I'm a member of have to be invited? Or can I apply to anything anywhere once I'm in? Are there therefore any clubs that are better to join than others?
I've done some googling, but I can't find one good resource and I'm fairly busy with work and family at the minute so never get the time I want to just sit down and do the research. Any pointers very much appreciated - in case it's of help the events at North Weald, Debden and Hethel appeal in particular.
Cheers!

If you register for the asemc speed championship http://asemc.co.uk/speed/ and join a club that is affiliated to them http://www.itsmymotorsport.co.uk/asemc.htm you will automatically be eligible to enter any of the events and will also receive the regs automatically.

Haven't sprinted for about 6 years but from memory once you've joined a club most of the other local clubs allow you to enter their events, I think the only club I had to join was Brighton and Hove to do the speed trials.
You'd need to join a club if you wanted to score points in their championship, and in some cases entry fees were very slightly cheaper for club members.
You'll find that events organised by one club will be rounds of another clubs championship.

Take a look at Classic Marques.

It’s a mixture of 25 sprints & hillclimbs (you only count your best 8 scores)with a power to weight algorithm that means that it relies on drivers get the best out of their vehicles & not the person with the most powerful one automatically wins.... I do ok in a MX5.
I’ve checked & a VX220 is eligible as it’s very close to an Elise.

There’s also the Tunbridge Wells motor club’s ‘All Circuit’ championship:

Thanks all - really helpful from you all. I've joined the Herts Auto and Aero Club and so I'm hoping to get my name down for some sprints in the spring and see how it goes.
Thanks again - love it when PH is so useful and friendly.

Just to let you know that Harrow Car Club have a couple of sprints coming up on the 28th July and the 8th September, both of which are held at the North Weald Airfield.
