Hi,

2019 will be my first season doing mag sevens - anyone doing / done this and can tell me what to expect in terms of the range of cars on the grid? I understand it’s split into <152bhp, >152bhp and bike engined all on the same grid - I’m running a superlight R (180bhp) and curious to know what the rest of the grid looks like!

Very much looking forward to it, any insight would be v useful.

Thanks in advance.

James

This year was my first in Mag 7s and first racing a Caterham, although I have been racing with the CSCC for a few years, in a number of different series, usually at the back of the grid!

It's a very good club, well organised, good paddock atmosphere and good driving standards. I have raced with other clubs but always return to CSCC.

In Mag 7s there are 8 classes (A to H) and big grids. Class A is <125bhp, Class B is 125 to 140, Class C is 140-152bhp etc. The fastest class (H) is 260 Bhp plus and has some very quick cars in it. At 180 bhp you will be in Class D (153-185bhp).

Class B (where I race) had the biggest class numbers this year, regularly getting 8 or 9 cars out.

I love it. There is always some way to race against and I wish I had raced in Mag 7s years ago.

This years Calndar is excellent, I think, and includes the annual trip to Spa, a double race weekend at Anglesey (best circuit in the country), Thruxton and an invite to race on the Brands Hatch GP circuit etc etc.

If you have any questions, ask away. I may not know the answers, but I know a man who will!

There is a CSCC Magnificent 7s FB group too.

Welcome!

Many thanks chaps. That’s really useful on both counts.

It’s interesting to see the lap times so at least I can benchmark, and I hadn’t realised that there were that many classes - i feel much better now!

I will prob end up doing 6 races next year, so just need to brave the weather and get out and practice those tracks ASAP.
