FIA Masters Hillclimb 2018
Discussion
Anyone ever been to the Master hillclimb events? I'm heading over to this years event in Gubbio this coming week, I'm looking forward to it!
How are they with dealing with spectators? Over here in Ireland, you can walk up the hill before the running starts, and in between runs. I'm just wondering is it run like a rally in terms of when the running starts you could be stuck in one spot the entire day with no chance of moving around! If that is the case I'd better be up early and find a decent spot!

I've done a few in recent years but not including the venue you are visiting. You can visit the website for spectator information and I suggest you read it carefully as some places operate a 'rally spectator' type policy whereas others you can roam around freely. We decided against visiting one of the Swiss hill climbs a year or two ago for the very reason that you are stuck in the same spot all day.
Live timing for the event is here:

There's a live stream for the Sunday running.
Entry list is "comprehensive"...

It's a shame we don't really a suitable venue in the UK.
i kind of hope, that because people like Moran and the top UK guys have been supporting it since the first event, maybe they with the help of the associations might be able to push something through at a suitable venue in the UK.
The other big issue would obviously be the bloody weather!

Back this morning.
Have to say that was possibly the best trip of my life! I kept thinking it couldn't possibly get any better but it did. I had never seen cars like these before in person and just to see them crammed in every corner of every street and side street was just truly amazing!
I took over 4000 photographs over the weekend to give you a sense of how much amazing machinery there was around. I'll post some up when I get a chance.
Team Ireland unfortunately had one accident but apart from that it was a successful trip for such small operation all paid for by the competitor themselves!
