Hello

I have recently purchased a go pro, and have had to move my existing camera mount to the location in the photos. I have sat in my seat and I cannot physically hit it with my head which I guess is what the scruts look for. It is also fitted to a proper mount - one that I have used for years. Any opinions on this - before some scrutineer condemns it as being unsafe?

To recap - it is behind the driver - just and mounted securely - definately. [url]

Looks ok to me but check the regs, some series / events require two means of restraint i.e. a wire teather.

The other thing to check is what must be visible in your regs. Some series say the camera must show the view ahead, the steering wheel and pedals. Some ask for a internal brake light that is visible from the camera as well.

Not sure the regs state anything about even having a camera. I will however add an additional tether to the mount.

Compulsory cameras becoming more common now. Usually needs to see the wheel and outside - a real challenge on a bright sunny day with masses of contract between inside and outside. I originally bought a GoPro clone from China for £16 but the picture quality is rubbish, so then bought a used GoPro 2 through eBay. The difference is night and day. No one has ever asked for a second tether.

Scrutineers have always insisted on a secondary restraint on my GoPro - zip tie around the mount has got me through scrutineering for a number of years.

Guess that means you just have the scrutinisers to satisfy for safety so all good, although I still think a zip tie / teather is probably a good idea.
