So, I'm switching from the very expensive but very quick Dunlop Direzza 03G - to the Nankang NS-2R which I keep hearing good things about. With the Dunlops we ran 3deg neg camber to the best out of them, I assume the Nankangs wont take this (maybe I'm wrong?) The car is front wheel drive light'ish weight 1000kg. What kind of camber can you run with these, and what sort of hot tyre pressures should we be aiming for? TIA

I would go to the AR-1. The NS-2R is a lot slower in comparison to the AR-1 and will be miles slower than the Dizzys. I only use the NS-2R when there is standing water. The AR-1 is much quicker when it is wet through to bone dry.

Geowise, I would keep it the same and then adjust based on temps, turn in and wheelspin.

EDIT: Pressures, I go for 32 all round when the session has finished. The AR-1 will take longer to come in than the Dizzy but will be more consistant through a long stint (I race for up to 1hr). Same pressures for the NS-2R but they get hot much quicker.

I went the other way and would never go back. The NR2's aren't anywhere close to the DZ's and you'll lose seconds per lap. Tyres are probably the single most important part so IMO it's not the place to try and save money.

I have to use 888's now because of series regs and they're not as good as the DZ's but still way ahead of the NR2.

Whilst on the subject of options, can anyone comment on how the Extreme VR2's compare to the Nankangs, 888's, etc.

The M3 Cup and other single make championships run AR1 as a control tyre in all weathers just fine...

I ran them on a Saxo in the wet at Snetterton and it was like driving on ice.

They do run AR-1s in all weathers, but only because they have to. To a man, they feel the AR-1s are fairly deadly in the wet, and M3 Cup cars used elsewhere sprout different tyres as soon as it rains.

Anyway, I'll second the above comments that going from Direzzas to NS-2Rs is going to be absolutely horrible. The AR-1s are comparable, but the NS-2Rs are not. I know this because I'm racing on NS-2Rs...
