Have I missed any suitable series out?
Discussion
I'm looking at racing an S1 Elise with the rover K series engine this year, and am currently trying to work out which affordable series I can run it in.
I'm looking for a UK based series and whilst I am used to travelling to venues I'm based in the south west so frequent trips to Knockhill are not ideal.
From what I can work out the Elise would be eligible for:
Lotus Cup
CSCC
Roadsports
Welsh Championship
Club Enduro
Multi Marques (TARC)
Have I missed any?
Thanks

Elise S1s race in CSCC Modern Classics and are very competitive both in their class ( 1600-1800cc) and against the cars in the next class up.
CSCC has excellent driving standards, large grids, a very good paddock atmosphere and is good value for money.
The calendar includes Thruxton as well as the midland circuits so not too bad for your travel, and it also includes Spa and Magny Cour if you do wish to race abroad.
I used to be the Modern Classics drivers rep - let me know if I can help.

Hi Miles,
There are also MSV Trackday Trophy and Trackday Championship where the Elise would be competitive.
If you fancy running Roadsports or Club Enduro I could help you out with support on race weekends.

Thanks Dan, my budget doesn't stretch to trackside support unfortunately. Just me and a set of axle stands There are also MSV Trackday Trophy and Trackday Championship where the Elise would be competitive.

Thanks Andy, I've spoken to Dave (Fishy) already. I was ideally looking for someone to share the 40 min race with if I was to go that way (2 drivers, 2 cars) but not found anyone who has a suitable car for Modern Classics and New Millenium to run with.CSCC has excellent driving standards, large grids, a very good paddock atmosphere and is good value for money.

The car would be very competitive in Roadsports and you could share the driving with someone else if you can find someone you trust.
Club Enduro is by far the best value in terms of £ per track time but because they are long races it's not a cheap weekend.
But Trackday Trophy is worth looking at if you're a novice.
I guess your budget definitely won't stretch to Lotus Cup.
CSCC is good but the racing seems to be fairly strung out due to the differences in the cars so may be a bit boring.

No chance of Lotus Cup, prices just seem silly to me, especially given the fall in grid numbers
Which series are you racing in this year?

I know what you mean about Lotus Cup. Hopefully the new series owners will get it back to where it should be.No chance of Lotus Cup, prices just seem silly to me, especially given the fall in grid numbers

I'm doing a full season of Club Enduro and looking at doing selected Roadsports rounds or possibly all of them depending on how things go.
Also running another Exige in Club Enduro and Roadsports on an arrive and drive hire basis.
What's the spec of your Elise?
I'd vote for Lotus Cup!
Grid should be half decent this year and getting better. Production class has never been that bad really, only got as low as 18 cars, but that's 18 of the same speed car, not all different cars, so it's never really felt dead (unless you're just watching I suppose).
Good close production class racing.

I would love to Alex, but working out costs just to be out there and compete it is a lot more than other options (especially given the current spec of the car).Grid should be half decent this year and getting better. I'm aiming to do a few rounds in Roadsports this year (as I did last year) in my BMW e36.
However, if you're interested in an Enduro relay with me, let me know! Struggled to find anyone to do it with last year.
Note, running in Class B (250 hp/tn), car number 18.
It's 240bhp/tonne this year, just in case you weren't aware of the change. However, if you're interested in an Enduro relay with me, let me know! Struggled to find anyone to do it with last year.

What makes it more expensive? Just the entry fees, or is it a mixture of entries, tyres, car etc?
A mixture, entry fees are more which obviously impacts but more noticeably the engine is nowhere near the power and whilst I have tyres, non are eligible. So with a limited budget it would mean less races this year for the same money smiles1 said:
