VNUK insurance nonsense
Discussion
I know there are other threads, but couldnt find one in this section, and although probably pointless anyway, it does need to get to as wide an audience as possible.
I suppose this should be updated of the MSA trying to do something

I believe the MSA have emailed all members asking them to respond, and we all should. Having just completed the questionnaire it will impact on motor sport and I believe over the top.
So have I but the MSA tells you to follow the MIA guidance, but the guidance is for companies so you need to fill in the "as an individual" part and answer the right questions accordingly. It's simple, but you can't just follow the MIA guidance (unless you do operate a motor-related company).carl_w said:

They maybe want everyone to fill in as a business....because maybe the f

Looking in from the outside, should this not really effect the UK because of Brexit?
Except UK Govt says that on day 1 they'll copy and paste EU laws into the UK constitution, then worry about which ones need repealing later. Can't see this one being high up on their list.OTOH, surely some of this is bluster from the MIA? Are the EU really going to effectively ban all motorsport including F1 and Le Mans? I realize that this is an unintended consequence of the new law but surely they see that something needs to be done?

F1 and LeMans may be able to self insure, if there is enough money backing them...depends what sort of level /value of risk is assigned to it all. If that's even possible.OTOH, surely some of this is bluster from the MIA? Are the EU really going to effectively ban all motorsport including F1 and Le Mans? But it goes far beyond motorsport, the ruling effectively applies to any motorised vehicle, even lawnmowers etc !

The only issue i can see is now when we do scrap it, if the EU dont have some sort of exemption for motorsport. it will kill uk club racing in europe so no more spa.. on the plus side sending my car to the USA for a year and flying over to do a few races is looking cheaper than europe will be!!!
