Hi
Some years ago I was a UK non race National B licence holder.
I have decided to make a return to grass roots motorsport Autotests,Autosolo classic car trials etc.
I attempted to apply for my licence only to be told as I hold an Irish passport I have to pay and extra £45 for an authorisation fee.
Does anyone know if there are for the sake of a better term,Grandfather rights when it comes to the MSA competition licence to enable me to apply for a UK comp licence?
Or alternatively if I was to apply for an Irish comp licence can I compete in NatB non race events in the UK using the Irish licence.
Seems the FIA have been interfering since I last competed.

In what way does passport even come into it ?

Are you living in Ireland or the UK ?

I dont even recall being asked for driving license details when I applied, although last few years have been renewals so maybe they did first time around.

But I certainly dont recall ever being asked any passport details ?

I assume the passport per se is not the issue. The issue is with being Irish and applying for a British race licence.

I have no idea whether you should or shouldn't be able to but it looks like you can't.

Hi
It appears the FIA have said all competitors from the very top down can only compete with a competition licence from their home country.....Unless the competitor pays a fee to the host country governing body, in my case the MSA.
BUT the MSA in the UK have a reciprocal agreement with Southern Ireland where if a competitor can prove they live in the UK (utility bill at the address) they can apply for a UK MSA licence without having to pay the fee, which incidentally is £45 on top of the cost of a licence.
Thanks for the replies, I'm all sorted now.

I am British, my understanding is you have to have a license from your country of residence, in my case Malaysia, I then get a release from the Msa, which they do by email free, (and very efficient they are), I have to prove my residency to both Malaysia and Msa, this is infor an international B.
